3.5 I like the Georgetown. The wait staff is always super friendly, they play different types of music to accomodate a variant crowd, and the food is good which is not a given at pubs. Today I had the Montréal burger(yum– cream cheese and bacon and mushrooms and glled onions on a patty). I’ve had their nachos and quesadillas before and they were good too. Had a pizza once and it was not so great. Pints are often on sale(domestic jugs) and this pub is perfect for game nights(see their schedule of sports events by the bar). Lastly, they have a pretty sweet patio(but bank street noise– argh)

Do you like Soccer or Rugby? If so then the Georgetown is the best place in Ottawa to catch a game of either of those sports, if not then you are better off going across the street to Patty’s. I went here today to catch the two big Premiership games, my beloved Liverpool against Manchester United(yuck) and Arsenal against Manchester City(also yuck). First of all props to them for opening for an 8:30 on a Sunday morning so that people could watch footy and have breakfast. Unfortunately it didn’t dawn on them that Liverpool vs. Manchester United is a massive game and so they did not have enough servers for the number of people. Also, they ran out of proper Coffee cups and forks so I had to have my coffee in a styrofoam cup, not brilliant. Bless her heart, the waitress was doing the best she could but she had a huge section to deal with so it took a while for her to bring coffee and take our orders. The Breakfast itself was OK, I had a breakfast wrap that was pretty good, but the portion of homefries that came with it was pretty pitiful, fortunately it wasn’t too expensive. However they invoked one of my biggest breakfast pet peeves, charging extra for Coffee. Coffee should be included in the price of breakfast, it is a natural companion to bacon and eggs. Once 11:00 came around we ordered beers, the prices are decent, but it’s mostly big brewery stuff, at least they have some European beer like Carlsberg, Kronenbourg, Stella, and Fullers ESB, but they could stock more local and microbrews. At least the prices aren’t too bad. Overall, I can’t think of too many reasons to go to the Georgetown apart from the wide variety of sports. The food is average, the beer selection is average, and the service is average. It’s not that the people who work there aren’t good at their jobs, it’s just that there aren’t enough of them. Liverpool vs. Manchester United WILL draw people at 8:30AM on a Sunday morning, the Georgetown should know that by now.

I’ve been here on wing night and the wings are OK. It’s your typical run of the mill sports pub. The inside is extremely large and in the summer have a warded off patio. There are lots of TVs inside to watch your sporting events which is a plus but the food is exactly what you’d expect from pub fare and sports bars. They do have beer on for the cheap but they can be understaffed so service can be slow.

Good to view sports. Bad to eat food. Service that’s more like unsportsmanlike conduct. For a bar that shows so much soccer, it could have a more global beer selection.

This place is good for the sports and beer, but the food and service aren’t that great, especially if it’s busy. They do get credit for showing a lot of soccer(and being willing to change the channel if you ask)

If you love to watch soccer, or maybe rugby or UFC, perhaps this is the bar for you. I’m not a big sports nut, so it’s very rare I’ll find myself at this pub. The food is average and uncreative, but they have a large selection of beer and a great patio for a breezy summer night. I could stand a number of sports fans hollering at a flat screen HDTV, if it meant I was outside on a patio on a 17oC evening sipping a beer with a friend. They also have free wireless Internet and an amateur open mic on Wednesdays starting at 10pm.

There are lots of pubs in Ottawa and many of them are so-called«sports» pubs. I was out with a friend doing the Bank Street strip one night and we decided to try out the Georgetown. Wow, what a GREAT place for food, beer AND sports. Okay, it has flat-screen tvs on most of the walls, showing whatever big game is on that night. Not sure what game is coming up? They have this HUGE sports event calendar above the wait station to let you know. The food is delish — my wife had the chicken wrap and it was very fresh and flavourful. I had the wings(only $ 4.95 a pound) and they were some of the best wings I’ve had since I got to Ottawa. The staff is helpful, but won’t get in your face if you are just there to watch the game and chat with your friends. They also have a HUGE patio, so summertime will be a blast!

As the name suggests, the Georgetown is a great place to watch sports. Over 12 large screen TV’s are sprawled across the large location, including two projection screens and even a couple of private rooms where you can reserve a party. They’re particularly big on soccer(ie. Futebol, Footy, etc.), so all the big Premiership games, UEFA, International friendlies will be showcased here. If you’re a UFC fan, they have special fight nights too. The atmosphere is fun, ocassionally rowdy and the bartenders and staff are always friendly and up for some sports talk. A non-sports fan might feel a bit intimidated at times, but if you still like to be in a fun atmosphere, you will like it. The beer selection is pretty decent, though not the best. Unfortunately the food items, though allegedly the menu is «new and improved», leaves something to be desired, and is the reason why I only give three stars. It’s pretty much standard pub fare, which is expected, but the fries and wings are sub-par, lacking the kick. Overall though, if you’re there for the fun and watching some games with the buddies, this is a good place to head. Just don’t go in too hungry!
