Ten Thousand Villages has a lot of creative and unique items for gifts. I especially love the jewelry here. My sister got me an amazing necklace here for my birthday and a little matching change purse, so I decided to go in and check the store out for myself. The prices are decent, but even better because Ten Thousand Villages strives to pay artisans fair wages for their work. In fact, the employees in the stores here in Canada work on a volunteer basis. In the back of the store there is an instrument section, which immediately drew me in, since I am a music teacher. I found a variety of instruments that would be great for my teaching… different from what I normally have. There are also some fashion items and some neat household decorations. It may seem a bit out of place, but you can also buy organic and free trade coffee, chocolate, jams, sugar and olive oil here!
