A nice open bar area with a good selection of beers on tap and several alcohols. We did not have the chance to eat here but the atmosphere was nice.

Stayed at the hotel and decided to try the restaurant for happy hour. They have a «spin six» menu that features food items and drinks for $ 6. We tried the shrimp ceviche and the beef slider. Both were really good for the price. I thought happy hour was a good deal and the food was tasty and well presented. The service was ok — could have been more attentive. Nice atmosphere as well. I recommend this place for happy hour if you stay at the hotel or are in the area.

Don’t bother coming here! Came here while visiting the city and was not once greeted, assisted with finding a table… NADA Waited for 15 minutes in the lobby and not even once were we helped after even asking«So how does this work?» Rudest staff, horrible!!!

Visiting ottawa from Vancouver. This is a review if the resistant not the hotel. I had the worst steaks ever at an «upscale» hotel restaurant. The sauce tasted like demi glacé they got out of a $ 0.99 pack of instant demi glacé from Walmart or something. The meat quality was mediocre at best. Not what expected for a $ 30 steak. The potatoes where under cooked. Bread was tough and cold. Didn’t bother to try dessert or anything else on their menu during my 4 night stay. Servers are nice.

I was quite frustrated with this restaurant. We arrived in Ottawa quite early, we were on the 630 train from Montréal and we were absolutely starving. We eventually found this place, it’s tucked in a hotel so don’t look for it on the street. We opted out of the buffet because I thought I would only eat what was in one order. I never really opt for the buffet because I find I can never eat enough to get my monies worth. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which I must admit was okay. I felt our server wasn’t really paying attention to us and the coffee was extremely overpriced for how bad it was. I think my bill ended up being almost $ 25 which I think is obscene for breakfast. I don’t think I’ll be back here.

I spent a couple of nights at the Ottawa Marriott last week and found myself at Spin for a few different meals. Overall, this is a pretty decent hotel restaurant — but it’s definitely a hotel restaurant. Spin has a «build your own salad» gimmick that’s actually pretty cool — though the pricing is difficult to discern. You fill out a card with your desired veggies, proteins, dressing, and other add-ons and they build your salad. Pretty great if you are a picky eater or have dietary restrictions! In fact, all the salads at Spin looked pretty tasty. As for the rest of the food? The entrees weren’t particularly impressive, and breakfast was just OK. Not a lot of options. But the servers were good, and I was happy enough to keep coming back during my stay. Overall, not bad!

Had some snacks for dinner. The wings were ok — the Poutine was quite good. Unfortunately — not too many places within walking distance in the cold weather of Ottawa to walk to. Very good beer selection on tap(kronenburg Blanc is my all time fav). Prices are a little high for what you get. I’d rate it three star except for Bob the bartender. I have been coming here steadily for the last 6 years and he is by far my favorite bartender in the world(literally).

Came by for breakfast the other day as the restaurant is located on the ground level of the Ottawa Marriott. Service and the ambiance was top notch. Started out with a latte and it was okay. Moved on to the eggs benedict w/smoked salmon and it was mediocre. The english muffin had too much butter and the eggs were surprisingly bland. The smoked salmon and the hashbrowns were top notch. ~$ 27/person after tax and tip for breakfast.

Breakfast buffet really unappealing, not what you would expect from a Marriott buffet. Ordered the Crunch French Toast and it was on thin bread, nothing special. Would suggest you skip this place for breakfast.

Our waitress Blaire was not knowledgeable at all. Didn’t know what goes in the house cobb(really?), or what pasta is used for the carbonara(penne), what kind of cheese bocconcini is(she said round, i kid you not) or what cocktails are sweet(I had her ask the bar). Hope she is new. Her excuse was it had been a long day. Sure. Then I got the steak frites medium rare but received it medium well(blasphemy!) Didn’t complain, was too hungry. The fries were great though. My date enjoyed his salad with the exception of a couple unripened avocado bites. I RECOMMEND: The Northern Lights cocktail and their triple threat chocolate cake– DELISH!

We had flatbread pizzas and salads. The pizzas were fabulous! Note: two people can share a pizza. A bit overpriced but we enjoyed the food!

Large, open, airy room to take some weight off. On paper, it should be great. Went there twice while staying at the hotel. In fact, the service is argumentative, amateurish and the food was very pretty; professionally styled, but lacking taste and finish. Hotel guests were pulling roll around valises over steps to take the short cut to the street. The beer and ales on tap were good, even better. But, as another reviewer wrote, for and $ 18 hamburger, I was disappointed. The seafood chowder was simply flat. There is a lot of good and inexpensive food in Ottawa. This is not good, but expensive.

Last night staying at the Marritott with an early morning flight and west coast time frame… I need a drink to cope!!! After packing I popped down to the bar to take in some of Canada’s finest brew. The bartender and patrons were friendly, had some good conversations. World Series and night football on multiple TV’s so the sports vibe was on. I don’t remember what beer I had but it was analogous to Boddington’s, less sour though. It was a Canadian brew and props to the bartender for the recommendation. I still felt unsatisfied after the drink though and was craving dessert so I ordered the lemon merengue tart. KICKASS!!! Lots of merengue(nicely toasted) slightly tart while still sweet lemon filling, and crushed piecrust on the bottom. A sinfully delicious way to end the night!

So during the week I was in Ottawa I visited this place twice, once for a group dinner and once for a group lunch. Keep in mind I didn’t have to pay the bill, but I saw what it cost. Overall it was nicer then expected once finding out we were eating in a hotel… in fact it’s quite classy/trendy inside. For dinner the food and service was a solid 4. My steak was delicious and my potatoes good. The salad was nice and the bread quite tasty. Service at dinner was great especially when considering we had 1 guy taking care of 20 of us. However, it was about $ 60 a person… and not really worth that much. Lunch was disappointing by comparison, between a 2 and a 3. A burger and salad. The salad was nice and the burger pretty average. Not sure what it cost, but probably $ 15+ which would not be worth it. Service wasn’t as good and they didn’t keep who ordered what straight.

Spin Kitchen & Bar is gorgeous inside. Unfortunately, the food and the service didn’t meet my standards, especially given the pricing. I had a lamb burger and salad which were blahh. I expected more for $ 18. The service didn’t seem professional and it took forever for our waiter to take our order, despite the place being nearly empty. The one highlights was the wine. I enjoyed a glass of Huff Estate Riesling which was very tasty. It’s nice that wine is offered by the glass in 3, 6, and 9 oz pours. Bottom line: I would return for drinks at the bar but not for food.
