The food was really, really awful. I ordered a green thai chicken curry, and it was just terrible. It had so many clumps of salt and green curry paste, so you could tell it wasn’t prepared fresh, and it was insanely salty. On top of that, it cost $ 14 before tax! Unbelievable! For two mains, and one starter, neither of which tasted good, it came up to $ 37. I can’t believe how some restaurants can even charge that much. The waitress was always on her phone, we had to ask her for water since she was busy texting. Atmosphere was weird since they were playing a documentary on Nazi Germany. Just weird. For the ridiculously high prices, tasteless meals, lack of service, and weird documentaries, I wouldn’t recommend coming here again.

The restaurant is now situated on Queen street where Green Papaya used to be. I was a regular at Green Papaya and decided to give Red Pepper a try. I ordered the Green Curry during lunch time. Big portion but only a slight taste of green curry. They are also very cheap on paper napkins. We asked twice for some napkins and they only gave us ONE sheet for 4 people. I won’t be coming back.

I would of give them 3 stars if their price wasn’t that expensive… We were from Toronto and this was the only place we know that charged $ 10 for small bowl of noodle phở soup. I guess we were in dt ottawa but for a phở place, I would say their price was quite expensive. A small bowl of noodle soup was about $ 10 without tax and tips. However, their meat was just a little bit more than other places I know in Toronto. Their washroom located downstairs and it was quite a challenge going because there were soooooooooo many steps. Steps to go down stairs and also steps to go up into the washroom. The staff was friendly… Will I go back if I am in ottawa again? No, I don’t think so and probably will stay away because of the price aren’t right for a phở place. It is like mcdonald charging you few dollars extra if they located in dt ottawa. I can eat something else.

Slow customer service, the pad Thai was extremely sweet and lacked in portion size. The phở noodle was stiff, it tasted like it was two day old noodles, and the soup was lukewarm.

I have been here about 20 times, and I’ve ordered only one dish: the almighty Pad Thai. Chicken, mild– that’s my favourite. Absolutely delicious, big portions for good prices — 10 – 14 $ and you may have left overs. 20 minutes for pickup, sit down and you get green tea with the meal — but a 14 year old kid might be serving you. No idea about the other menu options, but I have never had pad Thai that is less than absolutely excellent.

Cute little spot right in Centretown. I’m rating it 5 stars for what it offers in that location and for the restaurants value. Good prices, quick service and food is overall good quality. I’m a little biased as it’s right by my work and options are limited, and I go weekly. No need for TV as you can watch the world go by through the large windows at the corner of Bank/Gladstone. AD

Our first visit to this restaurant. Ordered the following dishes — 1. Whole shrimp spring roll 2. Pork spring roll 3. Rare beef and brisket phở 4. Bbq pork, fish ball and shrimp rice noodle The spring rolls had a very crispy skin. While both were good with their dipping sauces, we preferred the pork spring rolls. The soups had good flavor, but they needed to be hotter in temperature. With the lukewarm phở soup the bean sprouts did not soften enough.

Red Peppers was, well; fine. I stopped in for a lunch while I waited for my laundry to be finished at the laundry mat. I did not go looking for it, but keeping true to my adventurous-side, I decided to give it a shot since I had never eaten there before. We were seated right away at a great table right by the window. The restaurant is cute, an amalgamation of both kitschy and chic décor. I loved the chocolate brown tables cloths and the teapots, but did not quite get the picture of the white kitten over top of the kitchen door. I kind of felt like it was judging me while I ate more than my share of deep fried Asian food. We started with some rolls: shrimp and pork. The shrimp was standard but the pork was delicious! The seasoning was really unique and complimented the sauce that it was served with. We decided to forgo the phở(say that three times fast!) and got a Chicken Pad Thai and a Spicy Beef dish. The Chicken Pad Thai was alright! Unfortunately, due to several unfortunate encounters with ketchupy dishes here in Ottawa, I have been conditioned to not expect very much after ordering Pad Thai. However this dish was not too shabby! Not the best, but certainly not the worst that we have encountered. The Spicy Beef was okay, I was anticipating a traditional asian spicy, and the emphasis was placed much more on the ginger than the spice. The medley of vegetables that it was served with was not stingy though, and there was a plethora of greens, baby corn, peppers and hunks of meat. Our server was lovely and our dishes came out quickly and piping hot. I don’t regret going but probably wouldn’t go back unless I was in the area and everything else was closed.

I went here on a weekday for a quick after-work dinner. The area is not all the happenning but it is nice to have another phở place in the area. Ordered the salad roll and shirmp rolls for aps. The salad roll was fresh and really good. Loved the peanut sauce that came with it. The shrimp roll was good… hard to criticize fried food! I ordered the rare beef and beef ball phở(large). The broth was really good but the meat was a bit of a let-down. The beef balls were over cooked and I didnt find the beef to be rare at all. The whole point of ordering rare beef is to prevent it from being over cooked from the hot broth. That being said, a total of $ 30 for 2 people is not a bad price for dinner in the area. However, I am not going there until I exhaust other phở options in the area.

This place is cute and clean. The big windows that overlook Bank Street are great for people watching The flavor of the Phở broth was excellent but the meat was somewhat tough. Overall, it wasn’t bad but I won’t be rushing back.
