My wife and I are proud bargain hunters and this was my goto location for quality used Levis jeans. Unfortunately, much to my dismay, this location(and I believe the franchise) no longer is operating.

I’ve been to a lot of used clothing stores in Ottawa and this is one of my least favourite shops. The clothing is cluelessly out of style and the only way I can validate their pricing is that the clothing is in better shape than you’d find at Salvation Army, although not necessarily Value Village. However, they rarely get very high end clothing, as I imagine people usually take their better used clothing to the consignment shop across the street where they can probably get more money. I admit my opinion may be skewed by the fact that this store seems to mainly cater to older adults(35 – 55 yrs), although I still wouldn’t call the clothing very fashionable for that demographic either. However, Phase 2 does have a pretty decent costume selection during Halloween and their staff has always been very nice.

I discovered Phase 2 last year when I was looking for new duds and not wanting to spend a fortune. I popped by again recently and am relieved to report that it is still the same great store I remember. Phase 2 sells previously owned garments for less than the original price. Now, the prices are a little higher than a Sally Ann or Value Village, but the clothes are in way better shape and are immediately wearable. For instance, I bought a pair of cargo pants for $ 20, but they were in good shape and were not a decade out of style. The shop is well organized by gender, age and categories, but you will not find a great selection of children’s clothes. On the flipside, if you are a chef, Phase 2 has a rack of chefs’ kitchen whites. Not sure why, but great if you are in the restaurant biz! Parking is not great, but Bank Street has lots of hour-spots available during the middle of the day.
