I was at a friend’s and we ordered from this place. Half of the order was missing and the half we got was gross. What we received was nothing like what was described on the menu. Plus, the chicken we got was so dried out it was tough, most of what they delivered was a tub of white rice with some orange stuff in it, they forgot about70% of the meat, the pita, the sauce and of the meat they did deliver about 50%was missing from what the menu promised. Then they didn’t answer their phone for, like, 3 days and then they refused to refund the money. They offered my friend a free meal on her next order. She went to the restaurant in person and it turned out the free meal could only be up to 20 dollars. She ordered, but thought the restaurant was disgusting, so left without the food. Stay away. This place is gross, dishonest and a the food is not good.

We ordered food from here one night during the NFL season. Yes my review is a little late! Anyways my friend ordered the Koshari and I ordered a burger… yes a burger… from an Egyptian place. They said it was made in house and their beef was good, so I was sold. An hour later we got our order and it turns out it was the wrong order. I called the store and the delivery guy came back 10 minutes later to swap orders which was pretty cool. The burger was cold… not warm, but cold so I tossed it into the garbage. My friends Koshari was a carb overload mess. He shared some with me as I didn’t eat my meal. All the carbs were overcooked… the rice, the macaroni, the spaghetti. The fried portions of the meal were super greasy and the tomato sauce was sauce. Not the greatest thing. From the ratings I might come try the sit in but I’ll never order from here again. I would not try the Koshari as that is definitely not my thing. The girl working the phone is super nice so treat her well you animals!

Ordered dinner for myself and a few colleagues from this place one night. Order arrived in around 75 minutes, delivery estimate was 40 minutes. Food arrived as a jumbled mess, with grease dripping out of the bag. No menus, sauces, utensils, napkins or anything. I tried to order a Misakaa, but they had none so I instead got a Kosaa with ground beef. What arrived was thickely chopped Zucchini in a tomato sauce, no beef, no detectable spices. The side salad/rice was okay but arrived blended together i assume due to rough delivery. My coworkers ordered beef kebab platters; six pieces of beef mixed up with a rice/salad jumble tat was described as «okay.» but in no way worth $ 13.5. It’s possible, judging from the other positive reviews, that this place is good as a sit-in but for delivery I’ll never order again.

My husband and I went here for dinner recently. I have never been to an Egyptian restaurant before, so I was pretty excited to try this place out. Apparently it is Ottawa’s first(and I think only) Egyptian restaurant. When you walk in you see that the décor is minimal and simple. In terms of ambiance, it’s more like a typical shawarma place than a typical sit-down restaurant. You order at the cash register, then you sit down, they bring the food to you and you pay at the cash register when you’re done. The girl at the cash was really nice. There was a guy there too who was also nice. I think he was the owner. I ordered a Beef Samosa($ 1.15) and the Macarona Bashemel($ 6) and my husband ordered the Beef Kabob Platter($ 13). We also had 2 cans of pop($ 1.25 each). The samosa was chock-full of ground beef and was so delicious. The pastry on the outside was thin and crispy and it was filled with flavourful ground beef. I really enjoyed it. The Macarona Bashemel reminds me a little of lasagna. It was a square shaped piece and was layers of penne pasta, ground beef, vegetables(I saw zucchini, broccoli and onion, but there could have been other vegetables), flour, egg and milk. The top looked like it was broiled and was nicely browned. It was creamy and delicious. Like a Béchamel lasagna minus the cheese. My husband also enjoyed his Beef Kabob Platter. I had a taste, and I also liked it. He got about 7 cubes of beef, nicely spiced(but not spicy hot) on a bed of white rice with toasted vermicelli mixed in. I was hoping that the beef would be more tender. It wasn’t tough or chewy, but not as tender as beef kabobs that I’ve had elsewhere. The platter also came with a salad that was romaine lettuce, green peppers, tomatoes, cucumber and onion. The dressing was excellent. It had a lot of herbs and spices in it. He also got a bit of hummus on the side(at least I think it was hummus. It looked like hummus, but tasted kind of strange, too garlicky and too starchy). The menu said that the platter was supposed to come with a pita, but we didn’t get one. I told my husband to ask them for it, but he said not to bother. I really wanted to try one of their desserts because they sounded interesting, but I was too full. FYI: their restaurant is advertised as Halal. Overall, the food was great(minus the weird hummus-like dip). It’s a bit out of the way for me, but I would want to go back.

What a neat little place! I have to say, i love food from all over the world but Ottawa has a lot of the same stuff. Lebanese, Chinese, Ethiopian, etc. but Egyptian! Sign me up! I love trying new things. Me and the boyfriend ordered a whole bunch of stuff on a lazy Saturday at 1AM. I ordered a chicken kebab wrap, some type of egyptian dessert and macaroni beschamel. My boyfriend ordered the vegetarian koshari and cabbage rolls. The delivery time was kind of slow but the food was great. The portions were MASSIVE so my boyfriend didn’t even get a chance to try his cabbage rolls but he said his koshari was interesting but good! My macaroni beschamel was delicious, with a crispy bechamel layer on top, and a ground beef and penne layer on the bottom. The dessert was the star of the show though, amazing! it was crispy, creamy and sweet at the same time, and soaked in honey. Mmmmm. On a second occasion I ordered the chicken bane. It is a fried chicken dish but it is hands down the most tender, moist and perfectly seasoned fried chicken I’ve had! Soo so good! I had it with rice and it was just an explosion of flavor. I can’t wait to come back and try all the different dishes here!

It is tucked away in a 2-story house on Rideau Street, but you cannot go wrong with the quality. They are going through some renovations right now, but the quality is EXACTLY like what I experienced in the Middle East. It’s the first Egyptian restaurant in Ottawa, and speaking with the owner, he says he has a lot of good feedback on his hamburgers as well as his authentic Egyptian dishes. They offer a very large variety of food selections to choose from, it will definitely keep you going back for return visits!
