When I heard that it had opened near me, I was super excited. All of my friends who lived in Peterborough and places like that said that it was great, that it was the best fro-yo they had ever had, etc etc etc. Unfortunately, my experience was not the same. The Menchies near me had just opened, but even so I expected more than just 2 kinds of chocolate– red velvet, and just plain chocolate. Their website tells of many different kinds, including low fat and sugar free. That should have been my first sign. I chose the red velvet and a few toppings, including mini marshmallows, cookie crumbs, strawberry chunks and chocolate sauce. First of all: The yogurt: it tasted like bleach. That is the nicest thing I can say about it. I had gotten over a bad cold and been alright for a few days, and I ate this«fro-yo» and I got such a bad sore throat again that it hurt to swallow luke-warm tea. It had hard chunks of ice in it, and the entire fro yo experience has put me off for a lifetime. The toppings: the mini marshmallows were stale, the cookie crumbs were stuck together, the strawberry bits were brown, and the chocolate sauce tasted like wax. The cost: it was $ 12 for a small cup with 4 toppings on it. All in all, it was a very bad experience and I can no longer enjoy any kind of fro-yo. It’s an insult to fro-yo.

Unfortunately, it was my first experience at Menchies and it was not a good one. The employee greeted me, asked if it was my first time at Menchies I said it was and her reply was fill a container with whatever you like, weigh it and pay.
