It’s unfortunate that Livney’s hasn’t been given a rating yet. The owner(or the lady who greeted me who I’m just assuming is the owner) is really friendly, welcoming and lovely. Her selection of vintage wear is huge. The prices are very reasonable; I’d say it’s even more affordable here than Allegro, which is a vintage store that’s just a few blocks down on Wellington. Until recently, I’d always passed by this store without stopping in. The ‘vintage wear’ sign has always caught my attention, but unfortunately its sign is too similar to the neighbouring buildings to really draw attention to itself. I have, at one point, visited the convenience store to the right of Livney’s, and was so unimpressed by its hugely inflated prices, so maybe I just associated the two businesses with each other subconsciously — a big mistake, if so. There are two floors. The first floor is quite small — just a mere fraction of what is found downstairs. Downstairs is where the bulk of clothing is kept. I found that there were mainly dresses, but there were also some shorts, jeans, jackets, boots, and bags. I don’t remember seeing much jewelry. Some of the dresses seem to date back to waaaay back when. I’m awful at identifying eras, so I’m not able to pin down the decade that they were from. Very long with buttons all the way down the front, puffy shoulders and loud prints. Their oldness certainly lives up to the word ‘vintage’ in the store’s name. I ended up buying a cute pair of purple loafers with gold buckles for $ 15. I’d like to return to look more at the bags and jackets. When I visited, the owner was in the middle of replacing all the summer attire with her autumn wardrobe. I’ll be back!
