Irvings probably has it. This place is stuffed with stuff. It’s really a clothing store but it has everything from gas masks to flags to boots and pins and belts and pretty much anything you need. The presentation of the store isn’t exactly remarkable but if you just ask the staff will usually inform you if they carry whatever it is you’re looking for or not. There’s army gear on the walls and hanging from the ceiling and you may trip over a back scratcher on the floor too. The prices are reasonable so if you need something for one time use(Halloween or costume party) you won’t lose too much out of your pocket after you leave here. But if your pocket has a hole in it just go back and I’m sure they have a sewing kit so you can sew it up.

I was lured into this store the other day by the great rubber boots they had outside. I have been looking for a good, but original pair of rubber boots to get through the slush this winter and saw several options here. The prices are pretty good, not cheap, but definitely not outrageous. The rest of the store is kind of strange. As previously mentioned, it is full of Army things, and when I say full, I mean literally full. There is stuff hanging everywhere! I always thought it was just the outside that looked like this, with items hanging, but it is the whole store. Go here if you have the time to browse, you will need a while!

Irving Rivers holds iconic status in Ottawa as one of the 4 corners of the actual Byward Market. Their slogan reads«We corner the market». Basically, Irving Rivers has some military surplus goods, as well as some lower priced boots and such. If you find yourself in the market, it’s definitely worth the two minutes to walk around the maze of stuff: It hangs from the walls and the ceilings. BTW, I think Peter Jennings got his Gulf War hat here.

Irving Rivers is an Army surplus store in the Market that used to be an unorganized mess, but has recently cleaned up its act for your shopping enjoyment. But it still has a floor to ceiling array of trucker hats, Army paraphernalia, buttons, furs, winter hats, bags, touristy crap and various other oddities that can range from gem to gross. Their prices are reasonable and you’re guaranteed to find something unique that can’t be found elsewhere in the city… sometimes that’s a good thing. You won’t find anything here that’s high class, usually practical, tacky and/or ironic supplies. The quality of the items also ranges quite a bit. The staff engage you when you want to be engaged. The crowded spaces can be annoying if there are too many customers in the store.
