I like FarmBoy overall but have had quite a few disappointing items lately. Last summer bought some local strawberries, the basket looked ok, but not great. I tried to pick through the top to get some decent berries. Turns out the middle of the basket was MOULDY… could not make it back to the store-so that was a loss. This year, wanted some blueberries last week, they had local ones… and the bottom of a lot of the containers was mouldy. So I left with no blueberries. They do not seem to refrigerate the local berries and they spoil very quickly. The other place I get local fruits from, they are refrigerated and always good. FarmBoy just reduced the size of their fresh orange juice– used to be 500ml and now it is 330ml. Also the prepared sushi sits there overnight and seems to be there quite a while. I have not tried it, but considering there is a sushi take-out walking distance and cheaper I’m not going for the cold rice sushi here. I still do really like FarmBoy and shop here almost every week, but all these small things make me watch what I buy more.

Farmboy is incredibly overpriced and just not worth it. There’s a minimal selection of even the most basic grocery items, leaving you to choose their ultra-high end expensive products when you could get something much cheaper at Walmart, Loblaws, Independent, or(now) Target. We thought we’d try shopping here for groceries, and laughed ourselves out of there within 10 minutes without buying a thing.

I love this place. You can find things here that are not stocked in a regular grocer. I certainly don’t mind spending the little extra for freshness and knowledgeable staff. I’ve had their take-away a few times and it’s pretty good. Definitely worth it.

Farmboy is hands down my favorite place to go for groceries. It’s a bit out of my way but when I do go I’m always glad I did. They specialize more in organic things and you’ll see lots of products you wouldn’t find elsewhere. I also find the staff to be extremely helpful. Anything that has the farmboy sticker on it is exceptional. My favorites being their meat sauce, soups, salads and their lemon garlic dressing. They sell bottled milk, I think it’s Cochranes which is nice because the few times I’ve been it’s been on sale… I keep the the empty bottles for white sugar/brown sugar containers :)

Starting to get turned onto Sushi, i am a big fan of Farm Boy and heard they made Sushi on the spot — stopped by for lunch and grabed a California Roll little platter and took it back to work — Super Fresh, tasty, great little snack for $ 8 Will repeat for sure.

Farmboy is where I’d usually go for groceries if it were a bit closer to my place or I didn’t have to take the bus. They have a great selection of produce, usually from local farmers, with prices that are sometimes better than the usual grocery chains. I especially enjoy that they carry many varieties of the incomparable PEI potato. They have the best grocery store deli around with great(but pricey) premade dishes. They also have a wide selection of cheeses, meat and some bulk goods. Unfortunately, they lack a bit on other areas of your grocery shopping list, although they try to offer a small selection of packaged food. So there’s a better chance of you being unable to find an item on your grocery list here than at a chain store like Loeb. Regardless, I still prefer this store over others and it reminds me not to rely on prepackaged food that’s probably worse for me.

Farmboy is part of a small family-owned chain of grocery stores in the Ottawa area. What sets it apart from other groceries is the focus on local and organic produce. They have a huge deli and cheese section with products from around the area and the world. Plus, they often have samples available if you are looking for a new taste sensation! The egg section features only eggs from local, hormone-free poultry. The peanut butter is fresh-stirred, not huge conglomerate peanut butter. The prices are a little higher than you might find at a regular grocery, but you will get a higher standard of products.
