I love the produce — fresh, bright, flavourful, great variety. They have a lot of local grown fruits and veggies during the summer and fall. They believe in the 100 mile diet and try to bring in the best quality foods around. My family really enjoys their chef made meals to go and the variety is awesome. If you are in a hurry, then pick up a few things and dinner is ready when you get home. My daughters love the salad bar and the selection of cheeses. Who wouldn’t? Could you ask for more — perhaps but then you wouldn’t get the personal touch with recommendations of the great selection. We are definitely Farm Boy fans!

I can finally speak up for the sushi for sale at the take away counter! These days, the grocery stores have a lot of competition, but they also rise to the challenge! And this is a nice Farm Boy location to begin with. There are so many restaurants around in Kanata and Stittsville nowadays that the grocery stores have an edge by offering a wide variety of very tasty ready made food to take away, ie: for lunch and/or dinner. We had an event to go to in the evening, and we just knew that it would be a while before we would be eating — and we were already hungry! This Farm Boy offers a section of hot and cold foods for just such an occasion. For this event, I felt like eating healthy, avoiding bread, thick or heavy food, and I wanted to eat vegetarian. Sushi fit the bill, although the name confused me: «Avo-Q». It wasn’t at all confusing once it was explained to me: the centre of the sushi roll is avocado and cucumber! Makes sense. This was about $ 5.50, and comes with that green stuff that’s spicy, and ginger that looks like lox(smoked salmon) but tastes nothing like it. And I got chopsticks! We shop here on a regular basis anyway, and I find the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. There’s a woman who works at the cheese counter who often tells us about the special of the week(sorry — I don’t remember her name). She introduced us to a wonderful cheddar-maple cheese. It was such a treat! Once in a while we will divulge ourselves. This time, a young man who obviously works there guided me to the take away section, without being prompted first by me asking him about it. Well done! I will definitely be back to this shop.

I am a Farmboy fan. Actually, I think Farmboy is the best grocery store in Ottawa. The products at Farmboy are fantastic, and they always have the freshest produce for the best prices(in my opinion). I guess this review is more about the vibe that was received there. We arrived an hour and a bit before the store closed. It was practically empty, besides the loud friends/off duty store employees chatting up the on duty employees. It was like a hangout in a grocery store, that we weren’t invited to, lol. When checking out the prepared foods display, we asked the employee/cook standing behind the counter for a slice of their prepared lasagne. She was using a cleaner and never washed her hands or wore gloves to package our food. We totally did not mean to be a bother, def understand that it is an inconvenience when you are trying to close up for the night but her attitude was unappealing. The lasagne was packaged very carelessly, with pasta sauce marks printed all over the outside. I ended up letting the hubby finalize the order with the employee, had to walk away. Big turn off. I felt that this Farmboy had a cold feeling. Maybe an off day? My go to Farmboy is at Trainyards, and I always see management running around encouraging staff and making the place an awesome place to shop. Did not feel that at this location at all.

I love farm boy and this location is no different, the food is always fresh and the meals are usually from scratch which is amazing to see in this day and age. Truly a model for other grocery stores to follow.

Not all Farm Boy locations are a good shopping experience. The Farm Boy at Signature Centre on Terry Fox Drive is the exception to the rule, 99% of the time. Buying your weekly veggies and fruits nowadays requires not only a good eye for freshness but also the price. Selection is the most important factor for my family. We want our veggies and fruits to last more then two days after we bring them home. The staff are always ready to help you, they are constantly making sure the produce is in good shape for you to buy. but that said, the last few times I have noticed a serious reduction in veggies and freshness. I have also noticed a lot of new staff popping up. Something you did not see a lot with the previous management. Seems like something is not jelling to well there. This Farm Boy is still our favourite of the Farm boys, but our local Sobeys on march Road is catching up on prices and freshness. I will keep an eye out for who will stand to win my business on a more regular basis.
