I was craving for bubble tea that night, so searched Unilocal reviews for a good bubble tea place in Ottawa, and this place seems to have the highest reputation. But I was so disappointed, comparing the bubble tea I had in New York, this one tasted like water. The serve wasn’t that great either, no greetings, and I had to tell the kitchen that I didnt want ice tubes in it even tho I already told the cashier in the first place.

Wandering Chinatown Ottawa, I decided to stop in here and bought some dumplings as they sounded good(from reading the description) and the place looked promising. I was going to get a bubble tea(however when asked) but the young girl working the counter told me it was powder. I try not to do powder boba as it’s artificially flavoured and sugar hyped drinks. When I returned home and tried out the dumplings they were really tasty! So much better than the Gilly frozen ones or other Asian supermarket ones I purchase in Montréal. On this visit I purchased two kinds: pork with Chinese cabbage and pork with shrimp. They were $ 14.95 for a bag of 30. Double more than the $ 6.99 per bag I pay in the grocery store however the quality and taste is much better. Size is a bit smaller but I’ll come back to try some other versions when back in Ottawa. Finding inexpensive Chinese home made dumplings in bulk is on my hunt down list. My brother has a solid place in Calgary however I’m rarely there. The search continues!

Normally they do a great job but today they dropped the ball. Friends ordered the dumplings fried, but they were pan fried(burnt at the bottom) and at room temperature. Frozen bubble teas were all fine except for one that had tapioca balls frozen solid. The staff said it was okay and didn’t offer a new drink even though we’ve never experienced it that way before — we didn’t eat them. All in all, it’ll be tough convincing my friends to go back there next time, we’re taking our chances elsewhere.

Welcome to the world of fantastic and fresh hand-made dumplings! We stumbled on this place about a month ago. It’s well worth the walk. The prices are amazing: 7 $ for 10 dumplings or a little bit more for even more dumplings. My husband eats 26 dumplings in a sitting. They come in flavours like pork and cabbage, pork and shrimp, pork, shrimp and green onion(my fave). You can order ahead adn pick them up or you can take home frozen ones and make them yourself. We prefer to eat in because we love their bubble tea and the fresh taste of the dumplings. You can see the staff making them in front of you. They’re almost always open, which is also handy. My husband lived in Beijing for a couple years and said these remind him of the dumplings he ate many times a week during his stay.

Best bubble tea in Ottawa!!! Love this place =) I grew up in Toronto with a lot of similar places and this definitely has an impressive menu.

Visited Ottawa for the weekend and friends wanted bubble tea. This place is inside The Dumpling Bowl restaurant so it reeks of deep fried dumplings. We got a peach green tea, apple black tea and taro sherbet. All of the drinks were overly sweet, I would recommend asking for less syrup unless you prefer it that way. The Taro tasted very powdery and the consistency of the slush/sherbet was pretty poor. Both the peach and apple tasted very artificial and the tapioca had a weird texture. All of us were pretty disappointed. I’d stay away from this place if you’re used to drinking decent bubble tea.

Really good stuff. A little on the pricey side, but I would come back again. Open late!

I’m not a bubble tea connoisseur by any means, but I think this place makes the best I’ve had. My favorite so far has been the taro flavored one, but every other one I’ve tried was good too. Last night I kind of had a crappy experience but I won’t let it annoy me too much… I ordered a large guava bubble tea with their new exploding bubbles and got a medium mango bubble tea with jelly. I think the jelly is disgusting, but I thought maybe the exploding bubbles looked different or something. I don’t know if they handed me the wrong drink or thought I just wouldn’t know the difference. I’ll be back, it’s too good not to go back.

There’s a pretty large selection of flavors here and with different ways to make it: slushie, iced tea, and latte. With the last two, you can choose either a green or black tea base. Latte has a milkier taste. Anyways, I stopped here to order a strawberry iced tea with a green tea base. I thought it was decent, but there was a taste to it, probably the green tea, but it was a bit too strong to my liking. Overall, I’d drop by here if you’re in a fix for green tea. It’s a tad pricier than what I’m used to though. Also, there’s a book at the front that you can write it, which I thought was a nice addition to the place.

This is the first time I’ve ever been to a Bubblicity location. The second we walked in, my brother and I, having lived in Mississauga, both realized that it reminded us a lot of a place named Bubble Republic. The walls were a soft yellow, and several local paintings of young Asian women were hung up. There were signs reading«Cash Only», «No Outside Food or Drinks», and«Please Wait to be Seated». We were greeted by a young lady and asked if we wanted take out or if we wanted to sit down. We decided to stay awhile, and were seated at the little booth behind the cash. It seated about four people, which was perfect. We realized that the young lady and the man making the bubble tea were both seated at a table near the bubble tea bar. Mostly dance and Top 40 music was playing from an iPod, and pretty loudly. How do I know it was from an iPod, you ask? Because I saw it connected, and I saw the woman change the songs, who later told me it was her music. It wouldn’t be so bad, except that my boyfriend said it was giving him a headache, along with the hot temperature of the shop. Even the guy making the bubble tea had to turn down the heat. All the blasting pot lights probably didn’t help, either. They have a pretty extensive menu, and it took awhile for us to order, but the server didn’t seem to mind. They even offer dim sum, chocolate fondue, and the very popular brick toast, with about 10 different kinds of cream spreads, including condensed milk. I wanted a hot bubble tea, but since I didn’t see anything on the menu, I asked if they offered anything like that, and she told me that all the bubble tea lattes could be made hot. You can also choose whether you want black or green tea as the base. When we were finally ready, my brother ordered a kiwi black, with no tapioca for some reason, my cousin ordered a coconut green with tapioca, and I ordered a hot almond black, with tapioca and lychee jelly, as per the server’s suggestion. My cousin described her drink as a virgin piña colada, but watery, and couldn’t finish it. I, on the other hand, was very satisfied with my order. It tasted like a hot liquid form of the almond jello with lychee fruit you get at dim sum. They only charged me half jelly, half tapioca, too, so I only paid 50 cents altogether for both, whereas tapioca alone already costs 50 cents. The total bill was about $ 14 — pretty much what you would expect at just under $ 5 each with tax.

Place to go for bubble tea. They have two locations, one on Somerset and one off of Dalhousie in the market. I enjoy this branch better than the one on Dalhousie because it displayed really cool artwork, and it feels more snug/secluded. The Dalhousie branch in the summertime is like an inferno. I once, key word, once, went there for bubble tea and was dying to get out! I don’t think they turn on their air conditioners. I usually get the Lychee Bubble Iced Tea, with a Black Tea base. Bubble Iced Tea is the way to go if you want to drink something light and refreshing. Good after a meal in Chinatown, or during the summertime. I find the Latte, Slush, and Sherbet to be a bit heavy. Would only drink this if I haven’t eaten recently. They also give you a card that gets hole punched with each purchase. If you purchase a certain amount, you can redeem a free bubble tea. Awesome!
