I just don’t know what to say about a diner that can’t make decent bacon and eggs. What they call home fries are those hideous frozen cube things and they can’t fry an egg. I can say I won’t be back.

Nope. We went as a group of 6, and when we arrived it was very quiet. This should have been a sign, but we were hungry. The server didn’t seem to understand what her job was, in the midst of taking our order she would walk away to seat other customers. Ordering in itself was a hassle. My grilled cheese was something I could have found in a dumpster in the back. One slice of processed cheese. The eggs were under-cooked, returned, and they did not comp us for the meal that wasn’t eaten. Another order was the poutine and it was so under-cooked and flavorless, I still have the bad taste in my mouth. The potatoes were… strange. Frankly I would have been happier with frozen hashbrowns. The onion rings were batter without the onion. The toast was dry and cold. They screwed-up TOAST! The entire experience was SO bad, we couldn’t help but just laugh. We even had to fill our own coffee mugs. NO. Never, don’t do it. With SO many wonderful breakfast places on bank street, I am surprised this place still has business. *sigh. WOW.

We were in town for Winterlude and stumbled in to this place after a cold day on the Rideau Canal. We were very pleased with our experience. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed. The place was clean and had a typical diner feel to it. One of the owners actually thanked us for coming in upon our arrival. We had the cheddar cheese omelette and the western omelette. Each omelette was tasty and it came with delicious tasting potatoes and not your typical hash browns. The coffee and tea were ok. The service was very good and friendly and the value was excellent. We were very happy with our experience and would go back. All we wanted was warmth, good food, and good service and we got it all.

Small, Inexpensive diner a short walk from our hotel. We were overall disappointed with quality & price of food in Ottawa. The food here was not outstanding but it was correctly priced. Waitress was very nice. The food was basic, but that’s all we needed for breakfast.

Meh. This place gets a great big meh. I popped in here after reading all the reviews on Unilocal and looking for a good Saturday morning breakfast place. I stopped in around 10am and found a table near the door. The staff didn’t seem overly interested in my arrival so I sat down and began to read my book. After a moment or so they came by and brought me a menu. After a quick look I have to say I was under whelmed. They really only had a handfull options and they all seemed to be variations on the same thing. The other thing I thought was strange is that they charged for refills for coffee. Most diner coffee is such crap or low standard that they don’t charge you 75 cents for refills. All in all I wasn’t wooed. The bacon was over done, the eggs were under done and all in all it wasn’t spectacular. It was only $ 7 for my meal, but… I’d rather spend another $ 4 more to get decent food.

Bank Street diner(aka Wing ‘n Philly) is a unique, greasy spoon located on Bank street downtown. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner including wine, beer and a bar rail. If you’re looking for a real diner experience, I highly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is a family run business. They offer cafeteria style seating with waiter service. When I say cafeteria, I mean it; the restaurant has those benches and tables that are attached to the wall. The breakfast menu features all the typical staples including eggs, coffee, meat, fruit and oatmeal. Breakfast runs from 5 – 10 $ a head. The service is always fantastic. Lunch and dinner feature the typical greasy meals such as burgers, fries, sandwiches and hot meals. What sets this restaurant apart is it’s oddities such as a full selection of Philly cheese steaks. It also offers curries, pot pies and other daily specials. Most of the lunch and dinner meals are 10 $ or less.

The Bank Street Diner is a solid breakfast joint with clean diner-style booth seating, friendly service and with most orders coming in around $ 7, great value. I didn’t go in with high hopes, but my soft poached eggs were perfectly cooked(a rarity at a lot of places) with a nice side of pan fried potatoes, a huge improvement over the frozen kind you often find elsewhere. Strongly recommend as a solid, no frills destination for a good value breakfast. P. S.–I’ll go back for their ‘Breakfast & Beer’ special available after 11am. Amazing.

Sigh, Wings N Philly’s isn’t for everyone, but this is my favourite place to go for cheap breakfast. This is a very basic diner with an all day two egg traditional breakfast and 6 – 8 other menu items that mainly involve burgers, fries, chicken and phillys. They also sell cheap beer as soon as the clock strikes legal… if that’s your sort of thing, which it is for some of the patrons I see when I come in for my delicious breakfast. The waitress/co-owner is my favourite part of this diner. She’s so friggin’ nice, it’s awesome. Even if my boyfriend and I haven’t been by in a couple months, she still remembers our orders without us having to tell her. I think she does that for a lot of people. If you like breakfast for under $ 6 and you don’t require a lot of panache to your eating establishments, perhaps you’ll also like Wings N Philly’s.
