This place is amazing… expensive but well worth it personally I’m a fan of the beef donair!

Absolutely delicious! I’ve been to several shawarma places here in Ottawa(and there are many in this city!) and this is the best chicken shawarma I have ever had! Very tasty, moist and flavourful. The prices are a bit more expensive than other places, but the platters are HUGE. The customer service was awesome too! I will be back!

Unfortunately this has to be one of the worst places in Ottawa for shawarma. I only stopped in because they had a lawn sign advertising a good deal. The chicken tasted watered down and was not flavourful. The veggies were soggy and looked old, and the garlic potatoes tasted like they had been cooked several days ago and were just reheated and placed back in the serving bin. The interior décor is tired, dirty(dusty), and out-dated. Many of the tables were chipped and the chairs ripped and well worn. The customer service was worst of all. The two males working were busy flirting with the female customer in front of me, who wanted nothing more than to get her food and go home. They flirted with her, made rude remarks, and completely ignored me until they realized she wasn’t interested. Then it was like I was a burden rather than paying customer. Avoid this location. Go elsewhere for your shawarma cravings.

I totally feel sorry for Alissar. It is a wonderful Lebanese restaurant, but it is almost next door to another Lebanese place. I can’t believe they can co-exist together selling the same products. Alissar, like most Lebanese places, has a full bar of food delights that can be assembled either on your place or as a sandwich. They have falafel, shwarma, hummous, garlic sauce, tabouli, and that purple pickled veggie(that I think is radish?). The difference between Alissar and it’s neighbour is mostly the atmosphere. Alissar is a happening vibrant place — the walls are beautifully decorated and the air is filled with delightful Arabic music, giving Alissar a very authentic feel. It is a cash only place, but there is a handy ATM inside in case you are running low. Oh, and don’t you dare eat at that fast food behemoth nextdoor(yet another competitor that Alissar has to deal with!) — go Lebanese, not Happy Meal.
