I live very close to this gelato place, so I hit them up several times over the summer for a delicious treat. I’m not gonna lie, they are pretty expensive for Kerr Street peeps, but maybe they are getting all that rich business from the million dollar mansions down on Lakeshore. I read a review on here that mentioned they only had gelato for desserts — er, what? Not only do they have a very large gelato selection(they even have Ferrero Rocher gelato that tastes JUST like it), but they are also a chocolate business, and they have macarons too. They’ve gotten new management over the past few years, and they needed it — their customer service is SO much better than it used to be, and they are very friendly. I love biking down in the hot summer evenings to have gelato. There’s a gentleman who also plays the guitar and sings some nights, which really adds to the ambiance. Really nice gelato place!

Ice cream tasted very good. Was warm in the store, but that’s why you don’t stay there, you go outside for a walk. Seemed a little pricey, but nonetheless, I would come again and I would recommend for sure.

Terrible. Mediocre gelato. The shop was about 1,000 degrees inside, so the gelato was just about melted by the time you paid too much for it. They only take debit/cash, so I can’t wait to see the foreign transaction fees on that one. They don’t appear to have any truffles or other desserts besides gelato.

This place has incredible gelato. Better than anything I had in Italy. The hazelnut in particular is amazing, but honestly you can’t go wrong with any of the flavours. Everything is made in house, and the business is family run. The sorbets are great in the summer when it gets hot, but the gelato is the main attraction.

I came here with three other friends and I had a great time! The gelato is very legit, tastes great, smooth texture and not too sweet, I really liked it. I had the«lime-mint mojito» non-dairy flavor(the non-dairy additions were great since I am lactose intolerant). I have never had a non-dairy gelato before and was a bit hesitant but I am glad I ended up expanding my horizons because this experience was heavenly. The lime and mint flavors were very prominent but not overpowering. My friend said it best«this tastes like summer». The service was good, friendly and willing to let one sample as many flavors as one would like; awesome. The place itself, is small, no seating on the inside, there is however a sink where you can wash your sticky gelato-filled hands because lets face it, you’re getting messy. The cups are plastic and incredibly sturdy and lastly the portion size of the gelato itself was. kind, very kind. The only reason I am not giving this a five star is because of the limited seating are which was sort of a bummer.

I got the mixed pistachio nuts and chocolate flavors. Around 4 dollars. Tasted great but at the end I felt too much sugar.

Gelato is yummy, and I love the fact that it is not a chain. I agree with the previous poster about the owner. A group of women arrived and 2 of them promptly ordered. The third could not decide and tried 2 flavours, she asked to taste a third one, and the owner rudely said«this is your last one, you can only sample 3 max». I still come for the Gelato despite the owner. I agree, business would be better if she stayed away

The best gelato I’ve ever had hands down. I have been coming to this place for years now and it never ceases to amaze me. Came here on a cold and rainy night and we were the only ones in the store(although more people came by later). The owner was sweet and attentive and gave us lots to taste(hard to decide!) I settled on the fresh chocolate mint and sea salt caramel and my friend got coconut and blueberry. Outstanding! the salted caramel was… amazing. The blueberry was an insane intense beautiful flavour… it’s all just so damn good! I urge you to go try it out!

I wish I could have gelato everyday. If I lived closer to here, I just might. The flavour selection is overwhelming. In fact I feel a little stressed when it is my turn to get served because my heart always pushes me to say«one of each please», but my stomach knows that could never be. Every flavour I have tried so far has been 100% satisfying. The staff has also been fantastic every time I make the trek to come out here. Really, no complaints, only longing to go back.

The glowing reviews drew me here and I can say they’re spot on. The small shop is almost hidden in a non-descript strip mall just at the corner of Kerr and Lakeshore. The signage font is pretty tiny so it can be easily missed while driving. When you walk in, on the left sits all the goodies and the rows of gelato beckons you in. I’ve had a few gelatos in Toronto and this place has some flavours that can stand up against them. There are some that aren’t as good as Boreal, La Paloma, or Simply but at least half of them are worth the trip to this little shop. We tried White Chocolate Velvet, Chocolate Noir, Hazelnut, Cappucino, Sea Salt and Caramel, Lemon, and Wild Canadian Blueberry. I’ll start with the ones that blew my socks off. Chocolate Noir is amazing. It’s made with Valhorna and with no sugar added. The flavour depth is amazing. It’s very rich and has a strong pronounced chocolate flavour without being sweet or cloying. It doesn’t have that bitterness that some people associate with dark chocolate either. The texture was very smooth as well. Another fantastic flavour is Hazelnut. Most nut flavours tend to disappoint but this one was amazing. I’ve had hazelnuts(that were old mind you) that tasted less like hazelnut than this gelato. It’s very smooth and the hazelnut flavour starts subtlely at first on your tongue but then it becomes very pronounced after a bit. It’s not an overly sweet flavour. It’s true to the taste as if it has been just roasted. It’s a nice toasted and buttery hazelnut. Another great one is their Cappucino. It’s a robust strong coffee flavour that knocks energy into you. It’s another smooth and creamy texture. It has no bitterness in some gelatos I’ve had. The ones that are good but other places go can do better are Sea Salt and Caramel and Lemon. They’re good but I’ve had other gelatos where it’s either a better and smoother texture(the lemon wasn’t as smooth as other places) or that the flavour isn’t strong(I detected very minimal sea salt in the caramel). The White Chocolate Velvet is a lovely texture but the flavour is very subtle and in a multi flavoured scoop combination, it almost loses it’s place. The Wild Canadian Berry wasn’t as strong as I hoped. The flavour was a bit diluted in comparison to the other flavours and the texture was a touch grainy. Overall, ALL the gelato flavours we tried are good but definitely the Chocolate Noir, Hazelnut, and Cappucino are stand outs. I’m definitely coming back to try more! As for other items, we were able to snag 2 macaron. The pistaschio and sea salt with caramel. The pistaschio macaron was a great texture. It was freshly made the day before and it has that perfect meringue crispy crust with a soft(but not mushy) centre. This held a nice buttery middle. The pistaschio flavour wasn’t as strong as other places(like Ruelo or Lemon Tree Bakery in St Lawrence Mkt) but it was well made with perfect feet and proportion. The Sea Salt and Caramel was divine. The flavour was wonderful and you can taste the sea salt with gave a nice savoury component to the sweet caramel. The caramel macaron had the perfect balance between filling and cookie. I really loved it. The service wasn’t cold as described by Liam but I can see how the owner could come across that way. She knows and loves her products and come across as being ‘too strong’ with her opinions about what works or make comments about your choices. I think she was lovely to us and very personable. I highly recommend this place for dessert if you’re in the area!

Although this is your typical mix of gelato bar flavours, the experience of standing before that rainbow assortment of frozen flavours is always as titillating as it is bemusing, guaranteed to have your taste buds lusting after a dozen flavours. The gelato is as delicious as anywhere else and the servers have mostly been helpful and patient the many times I’ve been there. Why the mediocre score? Well, one night(Canada Day ’12) I witnessed the owner serving customers: an older blonde lady who was rude, rushing, and in possession of an unfriendly air. No smile or greeting given to myself, my wife or the two customers ahead of me. She gave a very snippy reply to a woman who dared to ask about the cherry gelato. If I ever see her there again, I will turn around and go to Baskin Robins instead. In my opinion, she would do the business a favour by staying out of it.

Gelato? Marcons? Chocolate? You will find all of the above made fresh in store at Chocolate Alphabet & Casa del Gelato. The Gelato here have intense flavour! The nice lady let me sampled Sea Salt and Caramel and Stachiatella which were both really nice. I just could not decide on which one or which two?!! I ended up letting other made the decision… Then Marcons? What flavours… stop rolling your eyes… you know it is never easy to pick only one! As not only eating too much is bad for your blood sugar level and it is bad on your wallet too! Pistachio flavour was rich and delightful and the shell was done perfectly… Is Chocolate Alphabet & Casa del Gelato the best Gelato place? Maybe not… but it is a decent place for Gelato… I will be back to try some of their chocolates and truffles too!

Hands down, the best selection of gelato flavours I’ve seen in Ontario. Handmade strawberry & basil, stachiatella fresh mint, wildberry, blood orange, watermelon, dulce de leche, sea salt & caramel and those are only a portion of the selection. Chocolates are dark and delicious. Lavender, Szechuan, saffron, etc. Gelato cakes on the pricey side, but mon Dieu, the flavours are exquisite. Owner is a chocolatier from Paris. Why he decided to come HERE I’ll never know, but try the place and you’ll be glad you did.

This has to go down as #1 in the GTA for gelato. The flavours are all done daily, and the ones in Toronto seem to pale in comparison to this one. When you’re down on the Lake during the summer, this is the place to go for some gelato.
