I don’t know why York gets bad ratings on here. It is a great cemetery! There is no mausoleum, but there is a small columbarium that opened in 2011. This cemetery is hidden on Beecroft Road, just behind the TCA. The cemetery is nicely laid out and there’s famous faces in here, like a Russian royal, and Barbara Frum is here as well. This cemetery is growing steadily and there’s lots of space! It’s a cool cemetery overall. :)

I have been coming at least once a year to York Cemetery for years… Great location, just off Yonge Street and close to Sheppard Subway Station. Depends on when you visit, some days the cemetery can be full of garbage everywhere and some days it can clean and tidy with well maintained lawn. The graves are getting more and more packed over the years and those evergreens at some of the tomb markers really need some trimming. More garbage cans are need might help as most of the time the garbage overflowed and people start disposing their waste everywhere! The road inside the cemetery are really narrow… and people are parking their cars everywhere… I guess I don’t really want to come here…

It seems odd to be checking into and reviewing a cemetery, but why not? I treat this place like a park. It’s quiet and has some interesting statues and gravestones, if you’re into that sort of thing. The downside? The road through the cemetery connects Beecroft on the east and Senlac on the west, and people race through here as if the only people they’ll run into are the non-living(I didn’t want to write«dead»).

Walking through a cemetery can be rather relaxing. It can give you perspective on life when you’re feeling like shit. I’m not recommending you camp out there daily, but it is a nice place to go once in a while. York Cemetery is a little hidden, stretching from Beecroft Road to Senlac. It’s a rather small cemetery. A lot of people walk through because there’s a direct path(for cars) that allows you to walk straight through the cemetery. It’s actually a nice walking path, I’ve walked it a handful of times. If you walk away from the main path, there is a fountain and a man made pond — some kind of relaxing garden. i don’t know much about cemeteries but this one seems like it’s in decent shape, and it’s in a pretty nice location. Where cemeteries are concerned, I think this one does A-Ok.
