Soma Organic Matresses

I’ve always had a good experience with these guys. John is always super informed and helpful. Over the years we’ve bought mattresses, bed sheets, pillows, a crib, and even furniture. It’s always a good experience, they’re never pushy, and the quality of the product is always top notch. We’ve never had to wait long for an order to come in (okay, once, when we had something custom made it took a few weeks, but that’s understandable). I trust these guys and honestly wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I wanted to like Soma – they’ve got a good selection of mattresses – but I found their customer service once I bought one to be pretty terrible.
A year ago, I purchased a mattress that felt great in the showroom but that I ended up not finding that comfortable to sleep on – which happens, I know. From pretty much that point on, though, I had to chase the store to get any help, and eventually I couldn’t get them to return my emails or calls at all. They seemed knowledgable and capable the few times they belatedly got back to me, but, in general, reluctant or unwilling to do much of anything once they’d made the sale.
I suppose they didn’t have to do anything, given that I’d stupidly bought a mattress I couldn’t return. (I wouldn’t have, but a few of my friends loved mattresses they’d bought there.) But that’s far less than I’d expect, let alone hope for, from a place I’d just spent a few thousand dollars at.

I had a good in store experience and the person helping me was helpful and knowledgable. But this has become a very frustrating experience. Similar to the other postings, they promised my mattress would be in at a certain time and when I didn’t hear from them I called to check in. Now they are saying next week. I am super annoyed because this is a crib mattress for my baby who now has nowhere to sleep!!!
Had I known the orders would take this long I would have gotten a different mattress or gone elsewhere. Here is hoping they are going to follow through with the new estimated time of delivery.
I am in the market for a full size organic mattress as well and am not sure if I will shop here for it after this… Hoping for the best though!!!

Our experience here has been excellent & overall we just love our chemical free comfy organic mattress!
John is the owner and was very knowledgeable and patient with us. I think we took a super long time at the store but he was very nice about it. We truly appreciated him explaining everything to us with regards to the organic materials as we wanted something chemical free for our living environment. John also got my hubby to test out each mattress and was able to see which mattress provided better alignment for him (and no it was not the most expensive mattress out of all the Sleep Teks). We also enquired about the rest of the items in the store. There were chemical free organic furniture (very nice sofas), cribs, dovets, pillows, laundry detergent, etc. We came back the next day to make the purchase and it was an easy transaction. The wait time for the mattress was only about 1.5−2 weeks. I would say the only con is the delivery. There were two delivery men. Only one was polite & friendly while the other was a tad rude (old guy).
The organic mattress was a big investment but it is truly worth it in the end for our health. Highly recommended!

We have been on a search for an organic mattress and Soma carried a vast range of sustainable made options that fit our price point. John was extremely helpful & knowledgeable with all the products he carried from material source to construction. The purchase includes free delivery and we had no issues at all with receiving our bed. The delivery guy was very professional & washed his hands before setting up our mattress. He knew where each part of the mattress went and set up was a breeze. It’s been two weeks since we received our mattress and we are very happy with our purchase. I would highly recommend buying a mattress & related products from Soma.

I am very unhappy with the customer service of the owner/​manager. I spoke to him the day after I purchased a mattress because I had a question. He said he was going to call me back with an answer and never did and I tried to call him several times after and he would not take my call.

I wish I’d read the review above before I bought my mattress here. I too had a terrible experience. Everything was later, much, much later, than they had promised. It was supposed to be 10 days before the mattress came but ended up being a month. I had also ordered pillows and a mattress pad and those only came more like 6 weeks later. This would be bad enough but they never even called to keep me up to date or let me know that everything would be so late. Also, the pillows that came were the wrong size. But the worst was that they charged my credit card twice for the order and I had to call them 3 times to get them to take it off; they kept saying they would and then the charge would still be there. And they acted like I was the one hassling them about it! Now I have $ 80 of interest on my credit card because of this that I’m already dreading that it will be a huge hassle to get them to take care of this, even though it was all because of their mistake. Oh, and the bed was too hard and even though when I was shopping they assured me I could get it easily switched out for a softer one, that has yet to happen. The guy promised to call on Friday to arrange a delivery over the weekend but not surprisingly, that never happened. So who knows when or if they’ll ever make good on their promise. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. I’ve only ever purchased a mattress from the Brick and they were 1000 times more professional and reliable.

I haven’t dealt with these people in years. But when I did order a mattress with them they were terrible. I had just moved into a townhouse & was sleeping on couch cushions on the floor since my previous mattress had unexpectedly fallen apart. I let them know about this & asked them if I could expect delivery on time (1 week) because of the situation. They assured me they would take care of me.
But once we paid, they didn’t call me to let me know when my order would be arriving. It was delayed almost 2 weeks. Granted, maybe they didn’t have any info, but they should have followed up on the order. It was a substantial amount of money. I was desperate because my nerves were raw from days of sleep deprivation & fitful sleep. When they finally came to deliver the mattress, they did not use a professional delivery service. But it seemed like it was their family members who did the delivering. One guy arrived on time & the other guy was late. The guy who did arrive had the nerve to ask me if I could help! I paid for delivery & set up of the mattress. When they put the mattress in the room, I asked if they would set it up because that was included. And the first man who had arrived set up the frame very reluctantly, saying, all you have to do is this! And he pulled the frame open & locked it into place abruptly. They were very unprofessional! I’ll never order from them again! It’s a pity because they carried some Canadian mattress products I haven’t seen elsewhere.
