If you dig Gryfe’s Bagels( ), then you should check out Haymishe. Not nearly as well known as Gryfe’s, but the bagels are just as good and have a similar style. That style is crusty outside, fluffy inside, and with amazing flavour. Totally different then your typical Montréal-style bagels, but so much better to my taste. Grab some of the delicious cream cheese that Haymishe’s Bagels sells and you’re good to go. These bagels are best eaten as soon as possible. As Jimi S noted, the women that work behind the counter are so friendly and awesome; it’ll make your day. Be warned that prices are a little high considering how small the bagels are.

Now i dont know how old haymishe’s bagel shop is, but they have jumped on board the health train quite smartly in the past decade or so with the types of breads they serve. Lots of their breads are geared towards whole grains, and(not that this will happen to you or that you should expect it,) but i have gone there before and been given a free bread just to promote business. What is most tasty about this place are their side dishes like chopped liver, a traditional middle eastern dish called mujaddarah, and their shawarma is awesome. The ladies there are incredibly kind and vivacious. When you leave here you feel like youve gotten great, homemade, food with no preservatives, no extra crap — just perfect to gobble up as soon as you can.
