This place isn’t fancy, but it is a nice, casual pool hall/bar. Reasonably priced drinks and the servers are very friendly! A great place to get together with friends.

Chalkers is a decent pool hall. It looks like it hasn’t been renovated in about 30 years but the tables are of decent quality and there are lots of seats around each table. There are also lots of TV’s and a small area to host a private event. We had the Thai Spring Rolls and the Prime Burger and both were very good. We were there during the holidays and there was one waiter serving the whole place. Although we would have preferred the service to be a bit more attentive, it was easy walking up to the bar to make a request. Our waiter, when he did show up was very good and also offered to put the table on hold, time wise, while we ate our meal. The bill for 3 hours of pool, 2 beers, 2 glasses of wine, appetizer and a main was very good at $ 70. While the tables look like they had been upgraded, the ball sets were not. But that was not an issue. Overall, with the low level of quality pool halls in the GTA, Chalkers is a good spot.

Chalker’s, a great place to play pool. Initially I was gonna give this place a four star. My mind has changed after eating here as it was an awful experience. Only reason I give this place a two star is because they have a lot if pool tables and the tables are not broken down. Instantly was unimpressed when our group of around 10 sat down and began to order drinks. Well all finished ordering and one of my friends wanted to order a water as well as she is walking away. She came back and I have never seen such a disgusted and rude face for asking for a water. Being a server in the past I can understand the extra attention gets on your nerves at times, but don’t show it with your body language. On top of that it was not even busy… she had a cool accent but it doesn’t excuse being so rude. The food was nothing special, it was actually below par for pub food, not sure how you can get there but it did. The burger and fries were crummy looking. The nachos stuck to the parchment paper and was burnt because the cheese was not spread out on the nachos. The thing that really turned me off about this place was that they had a drink promo going on for the Jays game and they tried to charge regular price for a couple of them and I caught it after she told me my total and I finished paying. I thought to myself this does not add up and realized she didn’t even give me my bill when I was paying, just a total amount. I’d come back for the pool tables, and that’s it. JimStar Out!

FINALLY, they have renovations. Pool tables have been updated. The felt on them looks brand new and matches with the décor. All chairs looked new or changed. Cushions are finally comfortable to sit on. The patio is relaxing as you can enjoy the weather and listen to music. The chairs outside are new, I think it was steel. I adore the photographs they have on the walls. The chalkboards should be neater though. Daily drink specials are happening now too. On of the day I went, there were well shots for around $ 5.50 I think. I don’t like the nachos. Burgers are fresh, fries are ok similar to other restaurants, LOVE the wings. I try to come back more. Drinks are the definitely better than the food. Friendly staff and good for watching sports.

Service has really stepped up, it was really good, but the food… the menu needs some serious help and so does the cook … we were all set for a huge meal with appetizers main dessert etc… celebrating a birthday –party of 5 — and we all stopped after the natchos… they used stale actual tomatoe sauce with a tiny bit of ground beef and this was this«beef topping«for an extra $ 5 … needless to say we grabbed the bill at that point and headed downtown. Too bad too, such a convenient location. We are done with this place, gave it too many chances now. GETSOMEDECENTFOOD!

This place is okay. It’s a convenient spot to get together with a group of friends to have some drinks and play some pool. There’s no specific demographic, rather, there’s young adults through to elders coming here. It’s a huge space with many pool tables. I wouldn’t say it’s dingy but it is decorated more on the less-modern end with really yellow lighting.

This place is really convenient for the location, prices, and the diversity of people on the concurrence. Young groups playing pool, listening to all years hottest tunes; senior citizens feeling their second air, trying to pick up some 45 old chicks; girls night out flirting with the bartender; ladies feeling and dancing the tunes from the dj; old fellows reencountering each other after 15 years of not hanging out(and asking you for a pic after telling you one of them used to play with a 9mm…) The menu has a pub/cantina kind of food; oily stuff good for sobering you up, really tasty, plenty and affordable: nachos, calamari, burgers, sandwiches, etc. We ordered Mediterranean nachos, and a grilled portobello sandwich. The service was really fast, and I got surprised by the food. I wasn’t expecting it to be good… But it was… The nachos would’ve been enough for sharing between 4 moderate people, or two chubby ones. The sandwich came with whole order of fries(frozen, but well cooked). The sandwich was in a torta style kind of bread, with lots of fresh avocado, tomatoes, onion, cheese, and those delicious slices of portobello… Yom! I strongly recommend it!!! The nachos were awesome!!! I love when the business don’t count the chillies, olives, fresh cheese, sour cream, veggies and flavor they put in each order, and they just want the customer’s satisfaction, my respects for this alternative middle town social spot…

There’s now half price pool after 8pm on Wednesday nights. Good deal. Nice friendly staff with great service compared to most places in Toronto. I don’t know what ppl are complaining about. do you really want to be bothered evey 3 min? They even remembered my drink order and customized my food order. I had the quesedillas. Not fake like most servers can be, they know their stuff. Everyday is a different kind of day there. You choose your fav day of the week. Heard the food is much better quality than most bars. They completely revised their menu. You dont pay entrance fee to hear the dj play on weekends like on college st. Very easy going place with a character. Only complaint are the washrooms.

Probably one of the nicest, coziest, and biggest pubs north of the downtown core. Along Marlee Chalkers takes up the second level of a 2 storey plaza with a beautiful wrap around patio veranda that’s ideal for summer time drinks and party. The interior layout is convenient and complete with pool tables, small stage for band to perform and plenty of seating all around this venue. The menu has variety from your typical bar fares to some gourmet foods… yes gourmet I say. They’re recent change in chefs have slightly altered the menu have had a positive response on my part. Their fries are crispy minus the crazy oil, beer selections are good, and their pizzas are thin crust gourmet. Kudos on the pizza… their margarita pizza was phenomenal! Prices and portions are worth the cost! If I’m ever in the area I’ll definitely hit this place up anytime, especially during the summertime!

That food is good and this atmosphere is relaxed but not shabby. There is a jazz jam session which anyone can attend. It happens every Wednesday night @8 pm. There are also great drink and food specials all night and billiards!!! Love it!

Chalkers is a really nice pool hall/restaurant. The place itself is clean and spacious and to play pool it’s pretty cheap. The patio is really nice in the summer. The food is mediocre and could be cheaper. The have alligator as an appetizer but I haven’t tried it yet. I heard it’s ok and tastes like chicken lol I really like the jazz nights they have on Wednesdays! Great for a date.

Went with a friend for a few games of pool. Visited this place a few years back, longer than I coups remember. Located away from street level on the second floor. Two seperate dining areas that looked decent from what I saw, both located off to the side from the many billiards tables availible. Patio area as well. Nice touch. Tables were in good condition. I know it was end of the night on a Tuesday night, but service was slow as hell. It wasn’t even busy. Kinda unattentive. Had to go up to the bar to order a drink. It kinda seemed that staff was just tired and to leave. I only say this because on the 2 occasions that we had approached the same staff member, she had asked us if we wanted the bill. Lol, um, unwelcome houseguests? Ordered the Purple Haze martini, it wasn’t my cup of tea, as the only other martini I tried in my entire life was a lychee martini and I remember it as somewhat sweet. Oh well. Final verdict: cool place. Crap ‘server’

Best mothaf*ckin steak I’ve had in years. 2nd time eating here and the food is spectacular. My gf loves the place too and the mediterranean chicken. Great music, great atmosphere, amazing service and staff. Has a feel like the place is ran by a family that is happy to be there and love what they do. Lots of pool tables. Always a great time!

A bit better than what you might perceive to be a pool hall if you just watched The Hustler or The Color Of Money. Lots of pool tables surrounded by lots of TVs with a section set aside for those wanting to eat or sit and have a drink or two. Pool tables are in pretty good shape and the food is your typical pub fare. I’ve had their food on a few occasions and it was decent… Didn’t need to send anything back. Great place for nothing fancy but a round of pool and some food if you’re hungry(or vice versa).

The plaza area looks a little sketchy but as I entered Chalker’s, their wooden staircases were nicely polished and the pub was larger than I expected. It could host a crowd of 200 people easily, but it didn’t seem too busy except for the event that I was attending. I went for an unlimited free pool night on a weekday and I expected waitresses to be pushing the drinks, but this wasn’t the case. It was a really friendly laid-back feeling of just shooting pool and socializing. The pub was not too loud and it was perfect for having a conversation. I don’t think I saw any snooker tables, which was fine by me. I had a fun piña colada drink, only because I saw someone else order it first. I was surprised that they served blended drinks. There was lots of free parking in the front and back as well as street parking. Compared to many other billiards places that I’ve been to, this place has an upscale feel unlike ones that are frequented by college students in the downtown area. It also doesn’t smell like people used to smoke there, which is a huge plus.

Driving around the Neighbourhood looking for a Pub as I need to kill some time before CMYE at Bigabaldi’s … as I found out Chalker’s is possibly the only decent watering hole I would walk in by myself to have a drink! The interior looks kind of depressing… but at least the balcony patio is kind of cute and nice as a lookout for fellow Unilocalers arriving for the event! The wooden patio furniture does desperately need some refurbishing… Wednesday’s Lady Night with $ 6 Martini Specials and free pool is quite good a deal though the Martinis are not the best I had. The beer selections are decent. Thanks Edwin A to let me has a taste of his dessert. I will definitely skip the Martini and have this sinfully delicious deep fried dessert instead! Wait staffs are super friendly and even suggested to give us all separate bills!

With so many other Unilocalers reviewing this place I think I can safely keep my review nice and short. This place has a fantastic patio, pool tables, lots of seating and a serving team that really knows what they’re doing. On top of that, what else are you going to find in the are that beats this? Nothing! It’s buried in a sea of suburbs. Check it out if you’re in the area. I’m a fan!

For what it is, this place is pretty great. Went with a group of Unilocalers after the CMYE at Bigabaldi’s and we cooled down with some drinks on their nice big second story deck. Prices were pretty good, Wednesday nights happened to be ladies night which meant the normally $ 9 martinis were $ 6. Also, pool was free for ladies tonight, not that any of us played. I drank a caesar, and though it was hardly transcendent it was well-mixed and nice and spicy. Service was great, our server Jackie was a total sweetheart, happily giving our large group seperate checks, checking on us without being overbearing. All in all, somewhere I’d definitely hit after pizza, though prob not something that on it’s own would draw me to the hood. Parking spots out front, and I believe I saw a sign saying more in the back.
