I live nearby and make it a point to visit about once a month. I like to look at the CDs, the Vinyl(more about that later), the glass/brass/wood items, etc. I also like to take a quick look at the furniture. I have found some interesting items over the years and, for the most part, the smaller items are reasonably priced. I am sure that I have spent over $ 1000 there in the past 20 years. They will often give a discount for cash as well; a good thing as I would be using my credit card instead. Sometime my wife comes with me. She and I have been looking for a dining room table but we need one that folds up as our home is ‘cozy.’ There is a table which would suit our needs very well; however, it is priced very high considering that it will need to be refinished. I have asked if the would come down in price several times however the answer is always ‘we can only come down to $ 400, plus the tax.’ Way too much for a table which needs to be refinished! Today I tried again, same answer. The people who work there are not conscious of the damage they are doing to the wood when they place heavy and sharp objects on top of fine wood ‘it leaves a mark!’ The longer they keep this piece, the more damage becomes apparent. They are damaging their all of the fine wood pieces by constantly placing chairs and heavy lamps on top. In contrast, my wife and I purchased a fine living room coffee table at the Salvation Army Thrift Store for $ 19. It did not have anything sitting on top of it. I am sure that had this very table been at the SPCA they would have priced it at $ 95. Silly prices and silly people.

I always enjoyed looking through thrift stores to see what kind of stuffs they sell, this place do sell tons of the typical used books, clothing, videos/DVDs and much more furnitures than the Salvation Army thrift store on Fell which happens to be a few blocks away. The prices on some of the items I’ve seen were a mix between fair and competitive, and the few employees I’ve bumped into there seems fairly nice. But the few things about it that I didn’t dislike of anything but felt I should mention was that this place felt like a combination between your average grandparent’s place and a warehouse. Basically this place, while had some nice things in stock, but felt a little bit run down. That and the front door and the front part of this place might make a few people unsure if this is even a store at all. I guess don’t judge a book by its cover and all because they did have a few nice things. So if you have what I like to call«the thrifty fever» like me, someone who likes thrift stores, then this location seems like a pretty decent place to check out.

I like to check out thrift stores when visiting new places, and was excited to find this place on our first trip to North Van — it was right behind the sushi restaurant where we enjoyed lunch. I was hoping to score some new cookbooks for my collection, but also checked out the rest of the store. This place is how thrift stores should be done. Everything was clean and so well organized — and the selection was great but not overwhelming. They have a couple of rooms devoted to dishes and glassware, all sorted by color so things were easy to find. Their book section was also well-organized, which is always nice when you’re looking for a particular kind of book, and the books were priced to sell. I also checked out their huge furniture warehouse in the back(also some excellent prices back there, and no «junk» as is so common in thrift stores), and their upstairs clothing and shoe area. The gal who ran the front counter was also super-helpful. If I lived any closer this place would be on my must-visit list on a regular basis.

Just saw a 5 star review for another location, and YES indeed this is a great thrift store! I was looking for wild crazy clothing for my trip to Burning Man this past summer and this place was EXCELLENT! There was a lovely woman upstairs who was happy to deal better pricing on the nutsy stuff I needed! YAY! Definitely as good as it could be for the things I was looking for!
