George’s has been in Lonsdale Quay for 30 years and for good reason. The extensive menu is authentic Greek cuisine: simply prepared, clear ingredients, generous portions, always delicious. It’s popular so be patient and line up because it’s food worth waiting for. The baklava is pure decadence. The serving is ginormous, the sugar level is probably lethal but it’s so delicious. Want extra honey? No problem and takeout veterans bring their own container with tight lid so honey doesn’t flow everywhere.

Greek on the go at decent prices = hells yes. Always served with a smile. Prices are market value and very filling. I love their veggie dishes and potatoes. During lunch time this place has a long line up.

I was expected mediocre seeing as it looked like just another quick food joint in the Lonsdale Market, but I was pleasantly surprised! I got a souvlaki pita of lamb, beef and chicken for the price of a lamb souvlaki(recommended to me by on of the workers) and it was delicious! It took a little while to make but I got to watch the guy make it and he put a lot of care into it and while he was cooking he would clean and make sure everything was nice and he just really seemed to care a lot. I asked him if he owned the place and he said he did and that he had been there for 29 years! Very cool, very authentic, I would definitely go back!

Went to George’s looking for some more affordable Greek food, just had a craving for calamari and didn’t want to pay $ 20 down the road. Was a bit shocked at the prices right off the bat, $ 14 for a Calamari plate with rice. We decided to go with it anyway, since I know that George’s has been around for a long time so it must be amazing. It wasn’t. Rice was scooped, cold, out of the fridge and into the microwave. Right in front of us. Came out as expected for microwaved rice, unevenly warmed. Calamari had too much breading, no seasoning. Tzatziki was very strange texture, tasted okay but texture was off. Honestly, this wouldn’t have been a 1-star review if not for the price. $ 14 is insane for basically poor foodcourt food. Hopefully other food is better but our experience was very disappointing.

This is one of those«finds» that someone like Anthony Bourdain’s crew would scout. If I lived in Canada, I wouldn’t want to review this place because then it would be overrun with people ALLTHETIME. I got a lamb lunch special, and ermahgahds it was the most authentic meal I have had outside of the real Mediterranean. For $ 12 I got a massive portion of tender, well-seasoned lamb ribs, juicy and falling off the bone. More like sliding off the bone. Perfect. Wish I had bought some of his meat rub to take back with me. It also had rice, a hearty Greek-style salad, and I don’t even remember what else, but it was amazing.

Great place to have a quick takeout or bite by the quay. Authentic Greek takeout offering all the standards, many displayed in a case so you can be inspired. A family favourite for many years.
