I have had exceptionally good experiences at Afterglow for several years now. Dr. Ebrahim and her staff have always been so kind, caring and professional. The results of their treatments have always been fantastic. I highly recommend Dr. Ebrahim!

Came here with my girlfriend to see Dr Shehia Ebrahim, who has been her family doctor for over 15 years. She has now shifted her focus more on medical aesthetics telling me it was«far more lucrative then giving Pap smears» I wanted some facial filler. There was a coupon for 100 $ off when you spent 450 $(min)on Juvederm. I have always wanted to try Juvederm as I have had Radiesse In the past and I saw no results. The office is in North Van, in a retail complex. It doesn’t look like Dr office. It does look somewhat spa like, complete with Zen like tunes for atmosphere. There was tea available, as well as some chocolate — we sampled both. My GF went first. She was getting some Botox. When it was my turn, the assistant took me to the back where I was photographed for my «before» pics. When I went to the room, I waited a while, the Dr came in and took a look and I told her what I was wanting to do. She ended up asking me if I was ok with her using a needle beforehand that would break the fibers up. This would help with the treatment she explained. Always eager for adventure, I agreed. I was given some topical pain killer — however when that needle came to break those pesky fibres/chains I really could of used way way more ! This was nothing like Botox(I actually like the feeling of it being injected) This was more like dig deep and pop something after a struggle. You could actually hear the tissues break. It was very painful. I’d say a 7.5÷10. Yes, this was with the pain killer. This went on awhile and both sides were done, I felt it slightly more uncomfortable then my eyebrow tattooing which wasn’t pleasant either. Then she had suggested I do 2 syringes, but at 700 $ each — I opted for a single serving, as I was thinking it was going to be around 500 $ as per the promo Minus the 100 $ discount. I would of been fine if that was the case, but 1400 $ plus tax was not what I budgeted for. FYI — syringe contains only 1ml of filler — The application of the filler was a walk in the park, compared to the first part. It was done quickly, but she seemed to really take her time to look and see what went where, she even did a bit on an old pierced eyebrow scar. When it was done, she told me about other things she could do for me, but it felt like a bit of upselling — but not too high pressure. She told me how happy she was to of switched for her general practice to cosmetic/aesthetic. I could tell ! I was then given ice packs to use. There was not an after picture taken, but we were invited to come to an event the following night. It was pushed on us(«so we will put you down for tomorrow and please, feel free to bring your friends…») This just made me feel very uncomfortable, and politely declined. We went to the front to go pay. The receptionist acted quite newish. I asked for an aftercare sheet. But it took quite some time to locate one. The totals for both of us were way more then we expected, and we also did not get our 100 $ off discount as per the promo /the reason we went. I looked after on my receipt and I wasn’t even given the filler I went in for! I went in for the Juvederm and got some European filler that I had never even heard of(Fortelis)!! This really pissed me off as I specifically booked for the Juvederm promo. Long story short — my GF did get the 100 $ credited back for us each, but she had to call the office at a later time in order for them to look into it. Now as for my results– my face was literally black and blue for nearly a week. It was horrific.(I took photos, but they are so scary I don’t even think I should post them) Then I couldn’t even see any changes at all In my face, still can’t actually. For all the pain, the bruising, the money spent, and the high pressure sales tactics, to not get any desired affect really does not make me happy, nor would I ever return or recommend.

We booked an appointment the day before, and my girlfriend and I ventured to North Van for her chemical peel. We were met by a nurse named Donna, despite expecting that the consultation would have been given by the doctor since this was a medical skin clinic. However, we felt comfortable enough with the information that was being provided by her and continued. After a consultation and evaluation of her skin, the nurse recommended a Silkpeel, which was pitched as a treatment with zero downtime, and good results that were less invasive than a chemical peel. It was priced at $ 185, which was a lot more than what we were expecting. We found other clinics in town priced $ 125 for chemical peels, and Silkpeels in the $ 100 — $ 125 range. The nurse then made an oddly strong recommendation for the Dr.‘s «special formula» solution as an after-treatment prescription that could be used to reduce acne, fine lines, and pore size — things that the Silkpeel would not help with. Since we already made the trip to North Vancouver, we decided to go ahead with the Silkpeel procedure based on these recommendations. Unfortunately, the results were barely noticeable, and looked no better than an at-home facial. Granted, Donna set adequate expectations that the treatment was a mild one, but this was certainly well below expectations for the $ 185 spent. Since there were no other options provided for after-treatment care and prevention, my GF asked for the prescription solution. We were told that there was only one compounding pharmacy in North Vancouver that made this potion«the way the doctor specifically liked it to be prepared», and that the results reported by other clients were astounding. Sounds great, right? The ONLY precautions given were that the salicylic acid in the prescription solution may dry out the skin, but a standard moisturizer could be used to help with the dryness; or application of the solution could be alternated to every other day. _ We went to the pharmacy and were told that the solution wasn’t available, and we’d have to come back tomorrow. We thought this annoying and wondered why the clinic wouldn’t have just faxed the prescription over and had them make it while we walked over to the pharmacy. I wondered why a clinic like this wouldn’t have made it easier for us since this was supposedly the«best» place to get it. About $ 50 later she had the prescription. No usage precautions were given by the pharmacist except to test it on the neck first before applying to the face. My girlfriend did just this when starting usee — all seemed OK to proceed. 5 minutes after applying it to the face she noticed a slight tingling sensation. She was convinced that it would be ok, and tried the solution again the next evening. After a few minutes, she developed severe redness and inflammation around eyes and lips. The stinging sensation was overall, and unbearable — she had to wash her face immediately, and discontinued use. After 2 days, her skin was still red, inflamed, and severely peeling. Concerned, and suffering, we called the clinic to get some answers and relief. The receptionist Shannon advised to discontinue use of the solution and to avoid applying it around the eyes and lips. We still sought relief, and were told that they would consult with the doctor and call back. _ I ended up missing work to take my girlfriend back. We arrived early for the 5PM appointment, and were rushed into a private room. Dr. Shehla Ebrahim clearly ignored my girlfriend’s face during this revisit, and boldly asked what the problem was. We explained in detail the experience and symptoms, and were told in a disciplinarian tone that this was«totally and absolutely normal». It wasn’t normal. The doctor was not reassuring, and rapidly changed her tone once she realized we weren’t buying it. She then acknowledged that these results were not typical, claiming this experience was because of sensitive skin. We repeatedly probed if there was something that could be done for relief, and were told that the only resolution was to «wait». Still before our scheduled 5PM appointment, the Dr. kept looking at her watch. Telling us that she had to go to another appointment, we both lost it. We had an appointment, and were told that the Dr. didn’t have time for us? What is the purpose of the appointment then? Dealing with Dr.‘s changing opinions, and no relief in sight, we told the story again, and finally this so-called Dr. asked, «so what do you want from me?». Clearly, relief was all that we were expecting, but with no future hope, and feeling completely misled — we asked for a refund which was given promptly. So disappointing was Dr. Shehla Ebrahim — her unprofessional, unconcerned, and horrible attitude truly soured the entire experience to an unacceptable level. It was truly awful and we felt grossly misled and misinformed by the staff and the doctor, and cannot recommend anyone go here for any reason at all.
