I went in this afternoon with unspeakable pain. I’m going to make this short and sweet. I have a great deal of respect for the nurses(some of them) that work in the emergency dept. the one I would really like to comment on is Dr Lee. He has to be the most arrogant egotistical man I have EVER had the displeasure of meeting. The first doctor that tended to me was wonderful.(Can’t remember his name for the life of me) I think it was Dr Stein. Dr Lee should move to the states. He’s a jackass.

I went in through Emergency having fever, chills and extreme pain. Its like a scene out of an old horror movie! The nurses are curt & clearly overworked. The doctors & nurses take personal cell calls & discuss personal business over the heads of patients like we aren’t even there! They released me with a fever of 102 but i know they didn’t know because they NEVER did a second temp reading on me! I was there for hours and they never bothered! They refused to tell me what tests they ran like I don’t matter! My husband had surgery here 2 years ago and they were competent. It must be just the war zone of the emergency dept!

Had an operation here yesterday and I’m very pleased with how I was treated. Everyone was very nice and professional. My questions were thoroughly answered and I was put at eased with little effort. The nurses took the time to listen to my needs and didn’t forget about me. They introduced themselves and were professional. My dietary needs were met and not forgotten. The only complaint I have is that the halls were loud and I found it hard to fall asleep. This didn’t last long and by midnight things settled down.

I believe that this hospital has some good aspects. I’ve heard that some people/departments are nicer, cleaner and more efficient than others. I once broke my foot and they were extremely quick with results. I was also given a cast right away and the doctors were very supportive. However, just recently I had an extremely high fever and I was extremely short of breath and my throat was in a lot of pain. We were taken quickly, but it was practically empty. The doctors were very ignorant. They came back and said it was just a virus(not bacteria) and just to let it pass. I got home and saw the bacteria in the back of my throat! I got way worse and I was very angry when I realized that they MISDIAGNOSED me(I actually had strep throat). So depending on your emergency, you will be addressed differently. Otherwise, this hospital isn’t too bad.

I became familiar with SRHS the middle of Nov — I thought it would be a nightmare from start to finish but at no time did it happen — yes Davis Dr is torn up & parking is ridiculous but that has nothing to do with the quality & care — from the Welcome Centre to discharge everything was organized & professional I arrived at SRHS the time given & went into surgery early There is lots & lots of paperwork but if you spend the time to fill it out properly, things will go along smoothly The room & bathroom was clean, the nurses very accomodating & helpful — food could be ordered from a menu, healthy stuff & as per your doctors orders, of course All return appointments were made for me when I was discharged Ironically as posting this, they called to confirm physio appt Would definitely recommend SRHS& would not hesitate to return, if necessary, for additional surgery

The worst hospital EVER! Doctors and nurses are so disrespectful, uncaring, etc I’m totally speechless now!

My aunt had surgery here and upon leaving she was told to get some meds. So she did at the pharmacy there but it wasn’t until she got home that she realized they had messed up and given her less than she was prescribed. She called to ask if they could mail her any as she just had surgery and cannot physically drive herself to get the meds from them, she was still trying to recover. They insisted that she had to physically go so she did, and when she arrived the ladies there were absolutely rude. They went and gossiped a bit behind the counter before fixing the meds and they didn’t even attempt to apologize for messing up in the first place and disrupting the recovery of a patient who just had surgery literally a day ago. Yes thank you for fixing your mistake but no thanks for the horrid customer service considering it was their mistake in the first place.

it’s pretty much the only hospital in york region so if you are looking for the er, expect to wait. going in once for a migraine, i was there all night and by the time i saw a doctor, i didn’t even have a headache anymore but i still got the meds. the next time i went in, i saw something within an hour. i guess it all depends on your circumstances. i recommend it. as for other services, i’ve mainly used mental health services, as much as most people might not want to promote that and might not earn me many friends, if you need help, there are so many programs here. look into them if you are able to. my own therapist is here and i am thankful every day for him. as for the rest of the facilities, there are too many for one person to review. but PARKING: beware, costs a ridiculous amount. i recommend the following places for parking for the day if you can swing it: the tannery, dixon medical center or york professional building, each only $ 3 for the day instead of the $ 17 a day you’d pay at the hospital and they’re all within walking distance. if you’re going to be less than two hours, you can always try parking on prospect st. it’s limited and usually full, but if you’re lucky you might snag a spot and it won’t cost you a pretty penny.
