We’ve been there 4 times since we moved to the neighbourhood on December. The first 3 times were good. The last one(2 weeks ago) was so bad that we aren’t going back again. We ordered some sushi and other dishes. The sushi took less than 5 minutes to arrive(spicy combo, about 20 pieces of sushi), which means that they made it before we ordered. And it had a weird taste. We even left 5 pieces because of its taste. Just because of that we aren’t coming back again. You can’t play with something as delicate as raw fish.

This place has changed ownership recently and we were happier with the previous ones. The sashimi they used to serve was huge in comparison to what you get now. Also we noticed a new menu with higher prices. Not the same. None of the old staff who knew us were retained which is a shame.

I love this place… great staff, feels like a nice neighbourhood place. This is my go to place. The food i feel is good for what you pay for. I will always go here.

Very good quality for the price. Friendly staff. Not the best place for sushi in town but worth a visit for sure. If you like to try out Japanese food. The ambiance may not be the best but it is above average.

This is by far my favourite sushi place in New West. It quick, good and cheap. It’s never too busy. I call ahead on my way home from work and in the 10 minutes it takes me to get there, it’s ready to go. The service is friendly.

DH& I came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon shortly before 2 pm. When we walked in, the restaurant felt stuffy; there was no air. I remarked to DH how hot it was, removed my sweater & started fanning myself. The perceptive staff quickly propped open a door to let the fresh air in. The Sushi Special choice of 3 items is $ 7.25 from 11:30 am to 4 pm or $ 7.95 from 4:01 pm to 9:30 pm. I had the Sushi Special choice of 3 items with Miso soup for $ 7.25: Yam Tempura Roll(8 pcs), Asparagus roll(8 pcs), Salmon tempura roll(8 pcs). DH ordered the Mix & Match combo, choose 2 items for $ 6.95: Chicken Teriyaki Don & Spicy Tuna Roll(8 pcs). The orders arrived quickly. The miso soup(couldn’t find the tofu), Yam Tempura roll(good), Asparagus roll(I think I detected some celery in here), Salmon tempura roll(good, crunchy). All these rolls were served on one plate. Chicken Teriyaki Don was good, served with lots of rice. Spicy Tuna roll(DH was a bit disappointed. Thought it was more like minced tuna). We thought it was a good value & will return to try the Special Rolls. Picked up a take-out menu on the way out: it’s the same menu & the same prices.

Well this place is just unimpressive. The sushi rice is flavourless, as is the fish on top of it. The katsu don is just mush with dried rubbery pork on top. Service is friendly and very attentive.

Great prices and awesome sushi. Staff is friendly. I’ve enjoyed their various bento boxes and the different rolls that they sell individually. Tuna and salmon sashimi plate is a lot of fish and enough to fill me up. I usually order more than I can eat. The tea is complimentary and very good. This is a great go-to place if you live in New West and like sushi.

To me nothing about this place is special in anyway. No ambiance. No service. Not good sushi at all. If your in to cheap quality sushi that will make you sick then you should eat here. Will never go back.

Nothing great. The teriyaki Beef wasn’t my kind of flavour a bit dry too. The agedashi lacked flavour but anyway s would I go back? Probably not.

Try Kojima if you live in New West! This is my favourite sushi joint for many reasons. It’s good, it’s cheap, they deliver any order that’s $ 20 or more for FREE, they’re fast, and you can choose brown rice for only 50 cents a roll.

I really like this place. The staff is always very nice, the food is always good, the portions are reasonable and the prices are good. I go here fairly often and the staff always makes sure that I get exactly what I came for.

When Royal Oak Sushi in Burnaby closed because of the tragic murder of its owner and waitress a couple of years ago, I struggled to find a restaurant that offered large portions at reasonable prices with great service like they did… until now. Kojima in New West fit the bill and I won’t hesitate to be back there again!

Stooped in for a quick bite today. Quick service. Nice menu with lots of different combos for lunch. Had the bento box with beef and Cali roll. Tempura was a bit greasy, beef was good and the roll was excellent. For the price it was great and I would go back again.

Everyone looks for something different in Sushi Land. Personally, I like fresh seafood, clean flavours, but equally important for me is timing. I know I’m being nitpicky, but while I realize you can prepare my nigiri before my gyoza or miso, in some cases, I still would prefer if the gyoza came first. Call me a traditionalist, but it’s my OCD order of things. So it drives me nuts when I’ve finished all my sushi and ten minutes later out comes my gyoza. Which is what happened at Kojima. That would have been the only flaw, except that I’m a bit of a pain when it comes to the slab of fish adorning my sushi rice. I’m typically one for the classic Japanese style, which is a smaller, perfectly formed bite.(Korean style sushi tends to be bigger). I found that Kojima walked the line here and the fish over ruled the rice. Again, most people would say YAY! This is AWESOME! More fish for my dollar! But for me, it’s all about balance. And so we find ourselves at three stars. I’ll probably be back because it was one of the better sushi spots in the area, but there’s definitely room for improvement. This review makes me feel like I need to make a «best sushi spots» list… but then I’d have you driving around the lower mainland.

Portions were large and the sushi was good. For the price, it was excellent value. The tea could be a bit hotter and the gyoza was not our favourite, but again, small complaints. We will definitely go again

This one was a difficult review. I went for lunch the other day and had a bento box with nigiri, chicken teriyaki and sides. The food was good, service ok but… The new owners renovated after king sushi left and it seems more functional from an owners point of view but it felt like you we’re in a room with a bare bulb hanging from the ceiling. No atmosphere. The competition is fierce for sushi. There are better choices nearby.

This used to be the location for King Sushi. Now taken over by Kojima(which also has a location on Commercial St. with decent reviews so decided to give it a try) Ordered a Bento Box C for lunch. It had Teriyaki Chicken with rice, Assorted Tempura, 2 Piece Tuna Sashimi, 2 piece Salmon Sashimi, 1 piece Hokkigai and Salad, all for $ 9.50. Order came out fast. Staff was friendly and efficient. Chicken and Tempura was hot and not soggy. Overall everything tasted good and portion was huge. The sashimi was cut extra thick and was quite fresh. They also have lots of combos and lunch specials all for under $ 10. With my budget these days, this is the best bang for the buck Sushi in the New West area, without tasting too Western. I will definitely come back and try their Sushi Specials.
