Had dinner delivered from here off the just eat app. So fast and efficient. I love apps like that. No having to call and talk to people. The food here was amazing! Great dinner. I got mild and it still had a little bite to it. My boyfriend ordered hot. He can usually handle hot dinners but this one was super hot! He was sweating the whole time. So if your wanting hot be careful because this one is hot! The only thing I didn’t like is when the delivery driver got to our house I had to pay with card because I had no cash. Well on their debit/credit machine there is no tip option. So I felt really bad because the driver didn’t receive a tip. We really didn’t have money laying around. So delivery guy if your reading this I apologize but maybe the owners can change it so a tip option comes up. I work in a store and there is a way to program those machines to offer a tip option. Just a thought!

Very disappointed with the food here. It was bland and had very little spice. We ordered two different dishes but they looked and taste the same. Also, I ordered and paid inside, gave a tip and asked for my food to be delivered. Upon arrival the delivery guy had the cheek to ask for another tip. Avoid this place if you know what a decent curry should taste like!

This place never disappoints. Come at lunch time the all you can eat lunch for $ 10.99 is back. At some point they stopped doing that but they probably realized they’re losing customers so they put it back. The butter chicken is amazing! They have spinach with chick peas, vegetable pakora, beef with red sauce, salad bar with chutney and other condiments. They have dessert but I didn’t taste it since I’ve already reached my satisfaction quota. I’m not Indian so I don’t know the names but they all taste soooooo good. The only thing that I don’t like is every time I come here is that my diet is ruined!

We used to go here all the time, but I think the ownership or chef has changed because the last couple times we got takeout, the food was awful — wayyy too salty. The vegetables in the biryani were undercooked and the korma sauce watery. I think I could make better Indian food at home. I think this place might actually go out of business if they don’t turn things around soon.

Fantastic food and very affordable, Rice, Naan and curry main for roughly $ 15 per person. They give you complimentary papadum when you order. The atmosphere is very casual, a little dated but nothing bad. The servers are very quiet but polite.

Amazing! The food here is delicious :) Chilli chicken Big quality chunks of chicken this curry. It was pretty spicy for a mild curry but very overall very tasty! Butter chicken My husband had the butter chicken and it was delicious. The sauce was excellent. Fantastic!

I lived in NW for 8 years and this was one of our go-tos for takeout/delivery. There are not a lot of good dining options to begin with in New West, so we were fortunate to have Indian Star as we both love Indian food. It used to be amazing, delicious and authentic. Then new owners took over earlier this year and now the food is disgusting! Our last order was in Sept. 2014 and we ordered the curry chicken. As soon as I opened the takeout tray I saw the color looked different and not as usual. Then we tasted it… and couldn’t even eat it. It was tasteless, like they took some cheap Superstore jarred crap and watered it down. We didn’t even eat it, it was that gross. Very disappointing and we’ll never eat from here again. I’m with all the other local New West reviewers on Unilocal who noticed a significant change and decline in taste/quality since the new owners took over. I would look elsewhere for Indian in NW. Other issues we experienced from ordering is that they forgot the naan order and then we had to call back twice to get it delivered. Over 2 hours later, it finally showed up cold.

Ordered Delivery yesterday. Vegetable Biryani, Shahi Paneer Korma and Daal Makhni. We usually order from Indian Star when we are too tired to go to Surrey for authentic Indian food. The food is OK. Daal Makhani had some weird spices in it and was the least favourite. I make better ;). Rest of the dishes were well balanced. Not bad for New westminster but overall not the best we have had in lower mainland. There is so much competition in Surrey which I guess that makes a huge difference in the quality of the Indian food there. All in all an acceptable restaurant to order from when in a pinch.

This is now my favorite Indian food in the city. The naan had a tiny crunch on the bottom so good, the lamb was quality with no fat just how I like it. The butter chicken was top noch, I don’t know how this is not a 5*

First time here, very clean, music is very light in the back ground. Waiter was good. Chicken Korma very good. I ordered it mild was too mild for me. Flavours are great

This used to be my family’s go-to Indian. Very close to us and good quality/price. As of December 2013 this place is under new ownership. We ordered last night(Dec/28/2013)and it was horrible! The sauce tasted like the stuff you buy at Superstore to make home Indian food. I think that Curry in a Hurry from a mall food court is better than this. This was the last time we order from here. We found a good new place up the street on 6th in Burnaby that has our business now. A bit further to drive and more $, but this place is now just so bad we can’t eat there any more.

Was here a couple weeks ago. Great food, great service and a good quantity in the dishes served. Loved the pickles.

So upseting that our favorite Indian spot has lost our business forever. Placed a $ 50(not the point here) delivery order that took close to two hours to be brought to the door. I called to check on our order and the server/operator was less than helpfull simply dissmissing me and saying it was on its way. Once the driver arrived we had canceled our order rather than trying to salvage the business I was treated as if I was in the wrong. I was in now way looking for a free meal but a 10% discount which i would have added to the divers tip(I did that job not his fault) would have been the gesture I was looking for just to keep them honest. So Im still craving a Indian… who wants my business?

After having a «meh» experience down the street we gave Indian Star a chance on Friday. Super glad we did. 1. Korma with a korma sauce. What a novel idea! Someone should send an order over to Royal Tandoori so that they can see what Korma sauces is. 2. Tikka Masala — a little different than I’m accustomed to across the river but still very tasty. 3. Dear lord that is some great Naan. Eat it. Eat lots of it. 4. Service was impressive. Eat here over the other place. That is all.

We ordered delivery from Indian Star on a friends recommendation and it was great! I am so happy to find a good Indian place in New West. The portions were great, the dishes were very flavourful and their naan and samosas were especially delicious. We will definitely be ordering from them again.

I went here for dinner a few weeks back and can easily say I’m hooked in Indian Star Restaurant. The restuarant décor isn’t hip or trendy, but it’s neat and cozy. he service was fantastic, from seating to drink to ordering to left over pack up and billing it was seemless. I enjoyed a tikka masala and chicken vindaloo. My boyfriend had the rogenjosh lamb, which he reports was very good. I liked that they let you pick the order of spiciness — I love hot hot food while any sort of spice will make my boyfriend break out in a sweat, it was nice to order my favorite Indian dishes without worrying he wouldn’t be able to eat them(except he vindaloo which I ordered hot, and I loved that they took that seriously and not just«white person hot»). Major fan of their pappadums as well. Only thing holding me back from a five star is there was a lot of oil in the food, which caused a bit of stomach upset as my boyfriend and I don’t usually have high fat meals, but if that’s your thing no bother. Definately one of the best Indians I’ve had North of the Fraser.

Being British I loathe the quality of curry in the Vancouver area. Don’t even get me started on Vij’s, horrible food. This unpretentious place in New West does the most British curry I’ve yet experienced in my five years over here. So highly recommended if you like Indian food that isn’t watered down to local taste buds.

I’ve been here about 3 times and each time had really enjoyed their food. My favourite dish that they have are their samosas. I think the reason why they are so good is because the pastry is thinner than the typical samosa and they are deep fried! That being said, they are a bit greasier than regular samosas, but if you just blot them a bit with paper towel they are to die for! They come with 2 dipping sauces, the names of which I am not aware of.(Sorry) The naan is always fresh and delicious. Worth checking out if you’re in New Westminster and looking for good food.

Just when I was despairing that there was no place from which to order in nearby that wasn’t pizza(or Greek), I discovered Indian Star. Well, I sort of already knew about the place, as it’s fairly well-established in New West, but imagine my joy of discovering they deliver, too. The delivery was fast — within about half an hour I was devouring lamb curry, chicken biryani, and hot, freshly made garlic naan, all lovely and charred from the tandoor. I’ve eaten my fair share of Indian food in my time, and even worked in an Indian restaurant for a spell, way back when, and this stuff was up there. The lamb makhni in particular was delicious, with tender bits of lamb swimming in a spicy tomato cream sea. At a medium level of fire, it neither too hot nor too mild. It was just right. I haven’t been to the restaurant proper, but I hear they put on an excellent AYCE buffet at lunchtime.
