The bartender was great and the food was super yummy. Check it out!!! I think it is a new west secret.

We really do love this place, especially the staff. The young lady that serves us when we visit is so much fun and makes us feel right at home. But we do have to agree with the other reviews here about the food… We would have given a 5 star rating had the food not been so bland and poorly prepared. We don’t expect gourmet fare when we hit up a pub, but it could have been so much better with a few simple changes. Flavor for one thing, it was like the chef forgot the seasonings… and over cooking the food(especially the dry ribs) made them inedible. It’s a shame because this pub has so much potential, great staff, fantastic view, friendly owner… but the menu and kitchen need an overhaul. The cocktails, however, are spot on as far as price and quality. It’s a hidden gem for sure!

I went there last night(Saturday) we had a table of about 10 people and there was only about 4 other tables that were used. I ordered a bottle of beer and it took almost 15 minutes for it to arrive. The guys at my table had their drinks delivered totally wrong as well. I just had two beers because I had to drive. I ordered a 7-up and when that came 10 minutes later it had a giant hairline fracture throughout the whole glass. The DJ was playing some fun 90’s hip hop. That was probably the best part. Parking is ok(street) There is a pool table and tv ’ s. There was an amazing view of the Fraser river and that is probably the only reason they are in business still. I’m pretty sure there was only 1 server for the whole bar. She was really nice but over worked. I won’t be back to this bar if I can help it.

The ambience is awesome — I love places like this. But it doesn’t make up for the fact that the food is greasy and flavourless. On two separate occasions I ordered a Coke and they did not tell me that they only have RC Cola. They did not tell me until I tasted the drink and it was gross. It tasted like they added 3 drops of syrup to tonic water. Everybody at my table agreed it tasted«off». When I brought it up with the server, she did not offer to replace it, she simply told me that it was RC Cola, not Coke or Pepsi, and that it’s «supposed to taste like that.» This is all kinds of wrong, especially since I had completely forgotten the incident and repeated the process verbatim a second time around. Wasn’t informed, was told it’s supposed to taste«off», no offer to replace. So the lesson isn’t simply just to avoid ordering soda, but rather that the servers don’t care about the customers once they’ve been served. The place does make for a great venue if it’s hosting a special event, but otherwise, it’s best to go to any of the numerous other pubs along Columbia St.

Terrible service. Waitresses act like they don’t want or need their jobs. Food is good if your one of the lucky people who don’t notice the hairs that always find their way into my food(cooked in). If you can’t find your waitress just look behind the bar, she’ll be there groping the bar tender. Worst place to try and have fun. Save yourself some time and don’t go

A quiet, cozy bar at the edge of the water in New West. The veggie burger and fries were surprisingly good, of the few veggie burgers I’ve had this one was actually the best and our group did 2 orders of the fries. The drink prices were reasonable. Our server was a kind, cute pregnant woman, clearly trying very hard, she was the only server in the bar, she forgot things from time to time, but she recovered well and was friendly. They a pool table which is a big bonus. I just couldn’t get enough of the cozy pub atmosphere, it was lovely.

I’ve been to Brooklyn Tap & Grill twice. Last night a good friend decided to have her birthday gathering here. The first time I came, it was pretty dead and I was just having a beer with two friends and it was decent. This time was kind of lame. It was pretty busy because it was Friday and I was being completely ignored by all the servers. I gave up and went over to the bar for a drink after about 30 minutes. I wanted a Long Island Iced Tea and it turns out they just use that sickeningly sweet pre-mixed stuff with coke. It also cost 6 freaking dollars and I didn’t even have a double. AND they put it in the tiniest glass I’ve ever seen with so much ice that it was piled over the top of the rim. Way to be cheap, guys. The bartender also gave me all toonies and bills in my change… so I couldn’t even leave anything in the tip jar and I looked like a dick. Sorry, but a single overpriced drink isn’t getting $ 2 outta me. On a positive note, a friend in our group asked the DJ to play Ace of Spades because he does a killer Lemmy on karaōke. I should mention that there was no karaōke happening, but when the song came on, he got up and danced and sang really loud for the entire bar. It was pretty impressive. I think I ruined my makeup because I laughed so hard I was practically sobbing. The entire bar clapped and cheered when he was done.

The best part about this bar is patio with the view of the river. If you are looking for a bunch of guys with air lats then this is the place for you lol. I do have fun when I go here but it’s not somewhere i would go all of the time.

I went to this bar one night to watch a ufc pay-per view event, just for a change from my regular bar, and i learned a good lesson. Stick to what you know and like(when it comes to New West bars). We sat down at one of the tables and a waitress was immediately there(which i thought was a good sign) but when we said we needed a min before we ordered our drinks she said, with a huff«Well you’re just gunna have to go up to the bar then,» I was a little surprised by this because there were only about six other people in the bar at the time and there were other waitresses, so it wasn’t like she was busy or anything. Then when it was time for the fight to start at 7pm, the intelligent people who work there couldn’t it to play on the TVs. We moved to a bigger table since the bar was practically empty, they couldn’t even get the fight on TV yet and we wanted food. As soon as we sat down another waitress hurried over(cuz they are all doing a whole buncha nuthin) to ask us if we were expecting more people. i said no and she said«can u move then, because this is a table for six and there’s three of you and this is fight night so a lot of people are coming,’ i said«even though there’s no one in here and its almost 730 and you don’t even have the fight on yet, you want us to move?’ I got quite a rude yes back. We payed for the one drink we each had, left right after, and went to a much better bar up the hill. i don’t like you Brooklyn’s pub. i hope you slide into the nasty greenish-brown river that your hurtin patio over looks.

When I was at Douglas College, I came here all the time with my classmates. We put on a few pub night fundraisers here — they’re quite good about that — but on a normal after-school drinking session, I always left sort of disappointed. The atmosphere is nice, the food is decent, and the drinks are good, but unfortunately, the service is completely unpredictable from one visit to the next. Sometimes, you practically have to lay leg hold traps to get another drink, and going to the bar is no help either, as often no one is behind the bar. I don’t blame the servers because they seem like nice girls trying to do the best they can. It seems like the managers and owners are trying to save money by paying fewer people to be out on the floor and economizing by combining the server/bartender functions. However, the Brooklyn does get a couple of points for it’s view, location, and patio. It’s perched on the edge of Columbia Street, on a precipice looking down, way down, on the CN Rail tracks and the Fraser River. They have a narrow patio out back, and in the summer, they turn their impossible-to-actually-park-in side lot into another large patio festooned with Molson Canadian banners, with lots of space for groups. I’m still foggy on why it’s actually called the Brooklyn, unless that’s some oblique reference to the Pattullo Bridge nearby. «Hey, they’re both bridges, let’s call it that!» The Brooklyn is a mystery to me. Why do I keep going back there?
