Great store with lots of amazing local artists and good quality home décor, jewellery, children’s cloth and even flower shop! I love that they carry FAT paint as well which is also made by local business. Everything in the store was made by local artisans so if you love to support local business this is definitely the place to check out

Another little gem in New West. This place is where my mom gets all my Christmas presents from. They offer an array of funky, vintage-​turned-​modern items that make perfect gifts for all occasions.
My personal favourite is the various infused honeys they offer. I’ve only tried the lemon infused honey, but it was so good I bought a second round of it. They also offer lavender and cardamom flavoured honey which I hope to try soon.
Another favourite is the branded, vintage spoons. For example, I have one that says «Paris is always a good idea» on it. They have other cutlery with other sayings on it. The two forks that say «I do» and «me too» will make a perfect wedding gift, if anyone I know ever gets married that is.
Funky jewelry, quirky pictures, lovely soaps — it’s a gift giver’s haven. Definitely better than those short-​term places that offer wall décor with tacky sayings. You know «live laugh love», «life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain» — definitely won’t find that here. Thank god.
I feel like places like this are becoming more popular. Malls seem to be on their way out, except for Metrotown which will never die down. Little places like this brighten up New West. Oh yeah, the dog they have that hangs around the store is a doll. If you don’t like gifts, at least stop by to pet the pup.

I’m not a frequenter of «gifty» type shops, but I really freaking love love LOVE Brick and Mortar (no, it’s not just because of the Boston Terrier). I really love the local feel, the jewelry, the eclectic and cool gifts, the selection of hand made cards, the funky art, the big fat paint… It’s just… cool. Too freaking cool.

This place is really cute! So many local artists and beautiful crafted home décor and gifts. The cards are really great! Dog friendly which was awesome, I pet two adorable pooches while shopping, winning!

The new location is amazing for this incredibly cute décor store. They used to be located on a bit of an awkward side-​street and are now front-​and-​center on Carnarvon and Sixth. The window displays and the layout are like a Pinterest user’s dream. The staff at this family-​run store are very nice and helpful.
Highly recommended if you’re looking for a cute little extra for your home.

Located in a historic Edwardian building in downtown New West, Brick & Mortar is a shop that epitomizes the whole upcycled vintage crafty aesthetic. Think Mason jars turned into lanterns, vintage reworked jewelry, and coasters made out of old maps. Things with a bird on it! Your Pinterest porn made real, ladies.
Inside the small, wooden floored space, they carry a whole slew of cute goods from artisans both local and generally cool, as well as a small selection of items waiting to be re-​loved, like china teacups and kitschy old prints. No one really needs this stuff, but you want it. The owners have curated this shop to fill you with desire for those things that enhance your life, brighten your space, inspire you to craftier heights. Maybe I could make the perfect deer-​printed card, but really, I probably can’t. It’s a dream I can dream, before just buying the thing.
And for even more inspiration, I love that they carry Anthology and Uppercase magazines. Though expensive, these are high-​quality publications not just found anywhere.
Ever-​changing in its displays and selection, Brick & Mortar is worth the short, steep hike up (or down) Begbie Street.

Very cute store. Well put together, and easy to find things. As a guy it’s a perfect store for xmas or bday presents, great for stocking stuffers. Loved it and the girls were very helpful. I will be back.

This little shop is absolutely adorable. I love the mix of new and old, and seeing items repurposed into something beautiful. I think it’s fantastic that they pride themselves on supporting local artisans.
