Sandwich #20 is amazingly delicious, ingredients are high quality, bread is fresh, service is swell ;)

I finally came here with a coworker because of the ratings and praise from acquaintances. I must say I am very disappointed with their sandwiches. I ordered No. 4 on their menu, ROASTBEEF, BACON, CHEDDAR&HICKORYSTICKS along w/Lettuce, Tomato, Mayo and Deli-Style Mustard. Sounds packed full of flavor right?! I made the same assumption, only to find my roast beef bland, no presence of any bacon flavor, and completely DRY!!! That piece of cardboard I just ate cost $ 10 for the bigger one, and I couldn’t even finish the other half… which I now dread eating. We came right at noon rush hour, but that should be no excuse for anyone to drop the ball at the most important of lunch service… C’MONGUYS!!! I can assure you nobody is constantly tasting and improving sandwiches here… or they have no taste buds.

The new location on Columbia Street had a line up out the door when we first arrived, so we came back a half hour later. There was still a line but it moved quickly. The sandwiches we had were just delicious, fresh and tasty. The service is great too! A fabulous addition to downtown New West.

Solid sandwiches. For $ 10 you get a large sandwich that is full of yummy goodness. A+ for service and quality.

To be fair, this place isn’t a gourmet or hipster sandwich shop. They aren’t trying to re-invent the wheel here but it is pretty tasty. I had the roast beef w/hickory sticks… hit the spot real good. Would I come back again? Yep Subway? Old news so its good to have a new sandwich place to try. Quiznos? I can’t seem to find one that exists anymore It’s my new go to sandwich joint in the area!

Not bad. Would like to see some gloves on the sandwich makers. It IS flu season you know.

Every intention I had of trying this place out just flew out the door as fast as I did. The first thing I noticed coming in was an awful awful smell of old meat. I already had a feeling this place would be a bust when I saw the place filled with your hipster Unilocalers being here because of the hype. What I saw next truly blew me away. I can see behind the counter where the sandwiches were being made and was horrified. Two guys who looked like they rolled off of East Hastings covered in tattoos, gauge ears, piercings and with green hair preparing people’s sandwiches with NO gloves. Seriously? You’re a freaking sandwich shop. How is this even allowed with Fraser Health code? Must be a Vancouver thing to not wear gloves in restaurants which is understandable because you’d hope there’s basic training but a sandwich shop? Especially where the people preparing it are so off putting? Even Subway employees wear gloves. No thanks!

After a long wait they are finally open in their new location. Walking in the door the smell of fresh roasted meats like turkey or beef welcome you. Awesome staff and great service. Every sandwich I’ve had has been excellent especially when you add hickory sticks! #18 is my favourite, I just hope they bring back the Philips ginger ale to drink as I didn’t see it in the cooler.

Great to have them open again in their new location and such a bonus to have them even closer to home now. Great sandwiches due to high quality ingredients all around. Bread is fresh and they cook their own roast beef and turkey so incredibly tender and juicy in comparison to what you can find at the typical sandwich shop. Don’t forget to add the hickory sticks for some great crunch.

This used to be one of the best places for a sandwich it is no longer true the sandwiches have shrunk in size to cut corners and save money I will no longer be coming to the sandwich shop as the value is longer there it’s overpriced in my opinion and Safeway is better

Big Star Sandwich Co. is back and better than ever. If you’re a fan of a good sandwich or just looking for a quick bite and you happen to be in the neighbourhood — come in and check out the new digs. Apparently they now also do catering. These are good sandwiches folks. Number 5 with sticks ;)
