my favourite shawarma place in ottawa. Very high quality meat, you’ll never find a piece of fat or skin, fresh ingredients, everything is made in house.

La shish is a family run shawarma place that makes delicious Lebanese fast food. The recipes have been shared through a few generations so you know they are well tested. The owner is always friendly and the place is full of repeat customers like our family. WE even brought my mother who was in full dementia at the end of her life and they were very very helpful.

Tasty food with an abundance of fresh sides. Great for mealtime; super for a snack after a night on the town. I’m constantly amazed at how much food they’re able to cram into a styrofoam container. A platter includes rice and potatoes, salad, hummus, homemade garlic sauce, pita bread, and fresh toppings, like red cabbage or hot peppers. I have an allergy, and I’m always well taken care of. One of the few takeout places where I’m not hungry afterwards. Beats a burger and fries, any day.

The Chicken Shawarma is absolutely delicious. It’s pretty garlic-y, but that’s what’s lacking in a lot of the other shawarma places in the city. I think the potatoes are delicious, as is the baklava(he was providing a piece free with each meal). The guy who runs it is really nice, and remembers us every time we go in there. All in all, the best shawarma place we’ve tried in the city.

The chicken shawarma was excellent — well flavored and crispy on the edges. We ordered plates and got an awful lot of food, including tabouli or fattoush and rice/potatoes. I thought the potatoes were subpar and would recommend sticking with just rice. The final compartment was loaded with hummus on one side and aioli on the other. I didn’t really see how hummus fit into the meal, but it was good nonetheless.
