Great, HONEST food. It’s like I’m cooking at home! Well, maybe I don’t cook that well but the menu is simple and they stick to what works for them: burgers, fries and hot dogs. My daughter got a BLT which seemed odd but it uses ingredients already on hand so not really a stretch. The fri portions are HUGE. We ordered 3 regular fries for a party of 4, 1 order would have sufficed. Save your cash unless you REALLY love fries! The only thing that would elevate this place would be a charcoal grill, flame grill. It will align with the natural ingredients and give the food a slight smokey flavor. All in all, I’ll definitely return.

THOSEWITHPEANUTALLERGIESBEWARE. Inquired about peanut contact and use with food before my purchase. I was told the only peanuts they had were sitting in the store front. As I’m called up to pick up my order I was THEN told the fries were made in PEANUTOIL. After I had ALREADY paid for a small fry and poutine!

Inaugural taste testing of Five Guys: I was definitely impressed with a few marketable attributes: — the employees were customer-centric and provided me with some direction on my first order — double patty burger was sufficiently filling and savory — although I ordered the«little» quantity of fries, I was seemingly upgraded to a «massive» quantity for no extra charge? Yay! — reasonable assortment of toppings which are all FREE! — entire meal ready in less than 10 minutes — this burger chain easily rivals the other fast food alternatives Unfortunately my downgrade from a 5 or 4 star rating is attributed to: — there was not much bun left after the hamburger grease absorbed the bread-ful goodness. — I was not wowed by the fries as some reviewers cited — I found them overly salty(but I don’t really have a salt dependency with other foods as well, so this portion of my review could be subjective). — Also the fries could have been a bit more crunchy(I sort of expect the fries to have more texture when my eyes spark at a sign that reads«fresh cut potatoes. Cooked in 100% penuut oil») — lastly, the cup they provided me to store the fries did not serve much purpose — 80% of the fries were in the paper bag.

What needs to be said about Five Guys other than its home to a great burger

Fantastic burgers! Beware. It’s a lot of food. If you are hungry for quality burgers and fries, this is the place. I mean seriously good portions of fries. Great value. Open concept so you can see everything being prepared. A must for burger lovers.

After hearing a bunch of Five Guys restaurants were popping up around the city, we finally stopped by this one to try it for the first time and realized that it wasn’t as fast food-oriented as we assumed. The restaurant was busy, but there were enough spaces to sit, and even though there was a bit of a lineup, it bought us some time to look at the menu. I was pretty set on a burger, so I opted for the bacon cheeseburger«All the Way» — it had two beef patties, bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, and mayo on a sesame seed bun. I’m almost positive it had two slices of cheese, which I loved(I have an unhealthy obsession with cheese). I also have to mention that the pickles were real pickles, and by that I mean they weren’t the strange processed ones that taste like sour feet at regular fast food places like McDonald’s and Burger King. The patties weren’t anything special, but the burger was huge and extremely sloppy, and would be enough to fill you without the fries. but we had to have the fries anyway. We ordered Cajun fries to share, but again, nothing special, and I found them spiced, not spicy. They were good, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get them. These are cooked in peanut oil, so those with allergies should stay clear. I believe, in general, they only use peanut oil and have peanuts out for everyone, so don’t bother coming in here if you’re highly allergic. We also noticed that people were just grabbing paper containers and serving themselves free peanuts. Apparently this is really popular at Five Guys, but I’m really not sure why. Perhaps it was because this particular location just had a couple of unlabelled cardboard boxes stacked beside the line, and you had to open the box to find the scooper and the bulk peanuts, still in their shells. No sign, no mention of it by anyone who worked there. A bit strange, and though it was nice to have an unlimited number of peanuts to munch on, it seemed sort of out of place. Our order took over 15 minutes to make and cost about $ 20. Not sure that it would be worth it any other time than our first time, but at least it wasn’t the heavily processed type of meal you would have at another burger joint.

this is my 2nd time — first time i wasn’t loving the grease… so i tried it again after say 6 months… and guess what… still the same. don’t get me wrong the flavour is there, and the fries are good… it’s just so greasy… you feel like you want to curl up in a fetal position after flame broiled is the way to go.

The fries were CAKED in salt. It was ridiculous. I might have just gotten a bad batch. It was almost like a joke how much salt was on it. The burgers are good. Patties are flavorless so it’s up to you to add stuff.

I’ll definitely be back here, the cajun fries were great and the burger was very good. I still think Hintonburger and BAJA burger are superior though. My only question is why they put everything in paper bag and wrap the burger when your eating in? Save squishing the bun and all the paper garbage and get some trays.

I like this place. It makes simple good burgers. The burgers are freshly made specifically for you. The kitchen is open so you can see the food being made. The kitchen is always clean. When they give you a cup of fries they overfill it and dump the rest into the bag. The problem I have with this place is the reviews that are plastered all over the place. When we first saw that we were getting one of these we kept seeing the review calling it the«willy wonks» of burgers. My wife saw this and on our first visit, she found that it wasn’t what she was expecting and couldn’t get past it. This isn’t the Willy Wonka of burgers but it is a really really good burger.

It is exactly what it claims to be — a no frills American style burger joint. If you want frills and endless menu decisions go to The Works. If you want heavily seasoned beef go to Hintonburger. If you want that 50’s feeling and ice creams go to Dick’s. I believe this location has gotten over their maturity problem that was reported earlier, as I can detect no difference between it and the Kanata location. The burgers are very American in that they are big(keep in mind regular is actually a double; if you want a normal sized one ask for the«little burger») and the toppings are overflowing. In fact I find the cheeseburger has too much cheese and I love cheese! The bacon is excellent, crispy not stringy. The veggies are nice and fresh as evidenced by the bright green peppers — try them with grilled onions and BBQ sauce instead of the usual ketchup/mustard/mayo. Add in hot sauce to give it a little kick. The fries, both regular and cajun spiced, are good and fresh cut(not crappy frozen fries). Note that a regular size is enough for two people to share, as they dump a pile extra in the bag. Minus a point for atmosphere. The music is too loud and I usually find it too cold inside(even when not hot outside) so I would rather take it to go. The tables are often not cleaned and I’m not talking during peak dinner hours.

There’s too many complainers on Unilocal, especially some members in Barrhaven. Maybe get a life? Get a career, not a job.

I really can’t understand the fascination with Five Guys, unless there is a difference in experience at different locations. I’ll give them points for the style of the place as it has a nice diner feel, you get to eat all the peanuts you want, open kitchen concept, etc. However, everything comes down to the food and it just isn’t that good. There is absolutely no flavor for the burger patties. They are just bland, fried patties. You can get a lot of toppings, sure, but there is still no flavor! And then they add what always turns out to be a soggy bun which will just fall apart when you try to eat it. My suggestion: flavor the beef with something, anything or maybe not cook the heck out of it so that not all the flavor is gone. Toast the buns first so they’ll last a bit longer when you try to eat them. And maybe add some toppings that will add something to the taste… garlic mayo? I don’t know… something. I’ve only tried three burger joints in Ottawa(The Works, Dick’s, and Five Guys). Five Guys is the worst by far. Your better off buying ground beef and cooking a burger yourself at home on the Q.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. Everyone I talked to said this place was«the best burger ever» My burger was TASTELESS. unseasoned, not very juicy, and flattened to almost paper thin. Everything was covered in grease(the packaging of my burger, the bag everything came in) It was extremely messy. The price was not worth the tasteless burger. I make better burgers at home. The staff was friendly I will say that. I won’t return here, I dont understand why people are so ga ga over this chain. The works was much better.

I was very excited this chain was coming to the Barrhaven area, unfortunately it wasn’t up to par with the other nearby location. We went there last week and three of us had orders that included bacon, and this is where the problem lay. They deep fry their bacon, which I don’t mind, but they need more training with it comes to timing and quality control. All three of us had burnt bacon that just crumbled to the touch and was not edible. My 5 year old was very disappointed to not have bacon on his bacon cheese dog. I think they should’ve tossed that batch of bacon and started another, I would rather wait for good food than get a rushed poor quality food. Another point to indicate poor quality control at this location was that my burger had two top bun halves which means someone else was given two bottom halves. I also felt the staff wasn’t as focused or mature has the Stittsville location which I’ve been to multiple times and have had nothing but top notch food and service. I will visit this location again once they’ve had sometime to develop a routine, hopefully my next visit will be better so that it doesn’t have to be my last. Update: I’ve been back to this location multiple times and have to say that their kinks have been worked out and food is now on par with other locations I’ve tried and I’ve changed my rating from 2 to 4. I would also like to add that the flavour of these burgers are what a burger should taste like, all natural beef with fresh toppings. Unlike those other card board burger locations that are packed with all sorts of unwanted«flavour additives», and are extremely high in sodium among other things and are far from being truly fresh. I’ll admit that I’ve had my fair share of the range of burgers from the card board arches to the over priced gourmet and have found some to be quite enjoyable, however if you are looking for a simple fresh burger and without the effort of making it yourself, Five Guys is the place.
