This place has a *really* weird vibe I can’t quite describe — kind of like being served by zombies(not the flesh-eating kind, just the fully zoned out kind). In fact, when we went in and waited by the counter to order, all three people behind the counter ignored us completely for a while, and even answered the phone to take an order before attending to us. No eye contact. It was bizarre. I had to check myself out in the mirror just to be sure I hadn’t grown an extra head or something while I wasn’t paying attention. So, the sushi? Not bad, hence the three stars. We got take-out and the wait wasn’t too long(once they finally decided to serve us). Once we were home in the normalcy of our own kitchen, we did enjoy the sushi. $ 20 fed the two of us quite fine, so it was affordable. Would I go back? Nope. Next time I’ll just call Tri Express across the street and order from them instead.

Hi, I’m yet another ex-Vancouverite complaining about the quality of sushi in Montréal. The good places I’ve been to so far have all been expensive so I’ve been trying to find cheap yet edible sushi. This place isn’t cheap(Take-out for two: $ 40. Average back in Vancouver was $ 25 – 30), and the sushi was just ok. They cram their specialty rolls with vegetables instead of raw fish. And the«tempura» in their rolls is simply panko crumbs. At least they take credit cards! But I probably won’t be returning with mine.

For cheap and quick, this place isn’t bad. Good vegetarian selection, nothing inventive or creative, but classics are there, and they are done right. They sell Sake here, by the bottle, and other interesting Japanese treats. This place is small, and is mostly occupied by people who need a quick lunch and or take-out. For good sushi, look to the other side of the street for Tri-Express, by far the BEST sushi in Montréal. However, if you’re not in the mood to drop 50 – 100 $ on sushi, and find yourself on Laurier, Yoshi sushi is alright by me.
