Worst food. Don’t recommend anyone to go to this place. Naans were like stones when asked they said French people like this types of naan. Really??? Chicken Dhansak had less salt. Biryani was made using water to make the rice look moist. Not sure how they’re still in the business.

Little disappointment. Not an ideal restaurant on street like St Paul in Old Montréal… Overpriced as compared to what portions they serve and how their food tastes like. Don’t get scammed by their upscale website and prime location.

The Dahl soop was served pipping hot, with half a slice of lemon that left a refreshing taste that was a good opener for the main course. The naan bread was light and fluffy, less oily than the standard naan bread, made out of a clay oven. The vegetarian Biryani was full of flavor and had a decent variety of cabage, carrot, cucumber and the rice was soft and flavorful. The main course of meat, my friend said was very spicy, thenI explained to him, this is how Indian food is suppose to taste like, then he said this is the best Indian food he ever had. The owner was pleasant and gave 20 $ gift certificate. I would recommend this place to my friends

I love Indian food with a passion, and must get my fix at least twice a month on average. I am fortunate to have married someone who shares my appreciation of Indian cuisine and is always willing to check out a different Indian restaurant while on vacation. This time, we decided our second dinner in Montréal(while on a weekend getaway) would take place at Kashmir, a spot located minutes from our hotel on Rue St. Paul(which is sort of the main drag of Old Montréal). We had made a reservation on Opentable for 7:15, and upon arrival, were seated promptly. Of course, we had studied the menu ahead of time, and knew exactly what we were getting as soon as we sat down. We ordered our apps immediately; since reviews noted that portion sizes here were fairly small, we got two apps to split. I am glad we did, as the portions were indeed quite meager. First, we ordered their onion bhaji, or onion and lentil fritters made with chickpea flour. Note that there were only three tiny fritters! We also ordered their vegetable pakoras, or mixed veggie fritters. The two apps looked exactly the same. In fact, they sort of tasted the same too! Don’t get me wrong – both were delish, but there were hardly any factors that distinguished one app from the other in the flavor and texture department. Both were also accompanied by small salads with an unknown dressing that I avoided in case it wasn’t vegan. I did love their sweet and sour version of the tamarind dipping sauce I so adore! For my entrée, I ordered their saag aloo, or spinach and potatoes. The portion size again was small compared to what we’re used to in Rhode Island restaurants. It was all good though since we had no desire to take home leftovers of course, so I managed to easily eat the whole thing! It was good – not great. While it tasted«healthy,» it was fairly bland. Not bland enough to hate it, but not flavorful enough to rant over it. Along with some white basmati rice, it did the trick! Kashmir in Old Montréal was OK – the service was good, the food was average, and the atmosphere was nice. Since Indian food options within walking distance of our hotel are limited, I have no doubt we will return there someday. It just reminds me though, how fortunate I am to have numerous excellent Indian food options minutes away from my home in Providence!

I fell of my chair when I saw the words good service and nice décor mentioned in the reviews! Did I go to the same place I wonder? The guy looked like we disturbed him when we arrived, told us half of the things we wanted to order were not available(hmm. Why are they on the menu?..). Gave us the wrong dish after a long wait and then did not even bother to fill my glass of water. Run before you eat at this place. There was a reason why it was almost empty!!!

Delicious indian food in Montréal. Lovely décor and located in Old Montréal. Expensive, but expected for the area.

Second only to the out-of-business Rajput, this was the most disappointing Indian we’d had in Montréal. Only tried it because we had a group-buy coupon. We ordered a Bhoona and Aloo Ghobi. Both were bland, the latter, even more so. The side of basmati rice was overcooked! — no excuse for a restaurant so pricey to be serving overcooked rice. Service was inattentive. I noticed other diners waiting too long to have their orders taken & for the bill to come at the end. The décor was really lacking also. I’m sure the Old Montréal tourists are the only ones keeping this establishment in business. Only positive thing I can say is that the music & views outside the windows were pleasant.

Dommage!

I can’t say that I am an expert on Indian foods, but I thought that aspects of this restaurant could have been better. The food was good but the service was poor. First of all, the waiters were sitting all of the people together by the windows on a rainy day. That would have been fine if the restaurant was full, but it wasn’t. One group even had to asked to be sat somewhere else. We ordered our food and it was brought out in a timely manner. The food was tasteful, but nothing to call home about. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and the seats were roomy. When we got our check(there were two separate checks for four of us) they messed up who got what. It took three tries before they got it right. I would recommend trying it, as I would give it a second chance too.
