Always unimpressed with service there. All Tau have the same problem: Irritable staff. You can never ask for help without getting attitude or exasperation from the staff. This is my experience at 2 of the stores. So fed up that it’s sometimes worth the drive to go to another organic grocer. Plus, the prices are ridiculously expensive.

I like Marché Tau. Nice variety of unique product you won’t find in your average grocery store. You are looking for gluten, vegan, organic or diabetes ingredient you can introduce in your day to day diet, this place have got them all. The difference is that they focus on — mostly — high end product for the person that isn’t afraid to pay an extra buck or two to get a good quality fair trade product. It’s business that is socially conscious which I think makes it better. It’s also great because you find everything your need there. I have one close to my place in the West Island which is at the very least 2 – 3 times the size of the one on St-Denis but hey, it still has most of everything the other place have. So if you’ve been looking for that type of place, go ahead and experiment Marché Tau!

Tau is pretty much your one-stop shop for everything green and organic. They have a little bit of everything, from fresh fruits and veggies to cereals, meatless meat, hemp milk and what not. I usually go there when I need supplements, essential oils or alternatives to Western-medecine. I love their self-serve grains distributors and their(small but quality) selection of medecine, juices and tea. Even tough I’ve described it as a «one-stop shop» I would never recommend doing all your groceries there: it is expensive, really. You will be paying for the privilege of shopping in a strictly labelled«organic» store. There are some similar products you can find for way cheaper at your local Metro(soy milk for example). With the economic crisis upon us, some beloved employees have disappeared(the situation seems worse on St Denis st. than anywhere else!). The new employees, or the ones remaining, have not wowed me by their expertise although it might just have been this one specific lady on this specific day. Note that you can call them in advance to have something set aside for you!
