Cheap, friendly andright next to the main subway line

This hotel is located about a 3 minute walk from the Berri-​UQAM Station, which is the main station in Montréal.
At first, the hotel seems derelict and very uninspiring. I mean, it is a 1-​star hotel for a reason. However, the nightly price for this place is extremely cheap, going as low as $ 50! For that amount I certainly wouldn’t have expected much at all from this place.
The hotel employees were very welcoming and attentive as well, and even offered free bottled water for us. Even though we arrived at midnight, they were still around and checked us in swiftly; something I wouldn’t have expected in a 1-​star hotel.
The reason I’m giving it 3 stars, however, is that the hotel room was too small for 3 people. The corridor leading to the washroom was simply too narrow, with only one person fitting in at once.
Aside from that (and of course the expected slight dirtiness of the place), this place is very good for the typical student budget hotel.
