Dubarry Fourrures

Better a delayed review than never! I was in Montréal in July for a friend’s wedding. My friends and I were roaming Old Montréal when we came across Dubarry. In the window, was a cashmere/​wool blend cape/​wrap with a fox fur trim. I had been looking for just such a cape for as long as I could remember! I did not think it would fit in my budget, but I decided to walk in and ask about it. So glad I did!
The owners (husband and wife, unfortunately, I have forgotten their names) were very nice! The store is full of beautiful cashmere, wool, alpaca, leather and fur items. From coats (full and knee length) and jackets to wraps, stoles, hats and gloves. The owners were attentive as my friends and I had fun trying on multiple items (although I only had my eye on the cape and my friends had no plans to buy).
As is my habit with an unplanned purchase like this one, I asked the price, tried it on and then asked for a business card and the store hours. There was no pressure to «buy now» (which I always appreciate). Further, the husband suggested looking at the catalogue if I didn’t like the colors (the wool or the fur) because he could make something custom for me. I told him that I liked it, but it was an unplanned purchase and I needed to think about it. He said he understood and then said if I decided to buy the cape, he could reduce the price futher (it was on sale) if I was willing to have it shipped versus carrying it with me back home. He assured me the shipping would come with the appropriate amount of insurance and would save me on taxes. I thanked him for his time and told him I would need to sleep on it. I returned the next day and bought the cape with matching gloves! The cape and gloves arrived as about 10 days later in a non de script box. It’s now fall and I am looking forward to wearing them!
