Mistake booking here, never again. Booked a «suite» for a couple of nights I needed to be downtown on business. First off, this place isn’t downtown. About 15 minutes from downtown– despite their name having«downtown» in it. Second, the suite was not a suite. It was a room. A room with a shower. I can’t imagine how bad the rooms are if that was a suite. The shower was stained, the carpet was dirty, something smelled moldy from the window shades, and the heater was barely working. I complained to front desk, they couldn’t do anything. As I complained, someone introduced himself as the General Manager and asked what the problem was(in an old fashioned Italian bully with a twitch and Oakley glasses kind of way). I immediately realized I was getting nowhere if this is the guy they hired to run the place. 1 star for Lester’s smoked meat sharing the lobby space.

I booked the Days Inn for two nights. We ended up staying one. When we arrived, the front desk person was so inept at her job that the check-in process to almost 30 minutes. They lost our parking request so we had to park at some random lot a few blocks away. I reserved a «king suite» on , I guess the Days Inn’s definition of a suite is much different from the rest of the world. It said«suite» on the door but what I got was an average hotel room. Nothing that made it anything like a suite or anything special. In fact it didn’t even have a bathtub, just a stand-up shower. The first morning we were there, I wake up to the string smell of marijuana smoke. In the room, in the halls, in the elevator, it was everywhere. I complained to the front desk and they said they would do something. We went out for the day and when we got back, not only was the smell stronger but it now included cigarette smoke too. That’s when we decided to just go home. We packed quickly and in the rush forgot something that isn’t worth anything but holds sentimental value. We’ve called the hotel no less than ten times and have yet to receive a call back. Oh and the area is sketchy as they come. You cant walk 20ft down the street and not get bothered by someone begging for money or selling drugs.

I was in Montréal in May of 2012 directing a pilot for a travel show. My crew and I stayed in the Days Inn because of its central location. My room was a decent size and the bathroom was fine. The restaurant at the bottom of the hotel is great for breakfast. Although breakfast was not included with the room. The hotel is in a good location in the Quarter Latin, walking distance of Chinatown and Old Montréal. We had some free time at night time and my camera man and I took the time to walk around the neighborhood. It is a safe area and very close to local bars and restaurants. The staff was fine. I honestly did not have much interaction with them. There is a parking lot at the hotel. I normally do not stay at chain hotels but since we were there for work the Days Inn worked out fine.

One star for the location, and that’s. Hotel itself and front desk don’t deserve any star. Let me start with the staff in the front desk. Booked 4 days and 3 nights stay here at this hotel, came check in a bit late due to traffic, but reserved 2 parking space with the front desk by another group member who got there earlier. When I got there and asked them about it, they told us lot is packed? So what’s the point of reserving it when they ain’t going to give us a spot. The following day, same story with the parking situation. Took me 35 minutes to find parking. Hotel looks really old and run down. Pillow cases and bed sheets are dirty. Going to cut my trip short due to such a bad experience with this hotel. I rather go home and start up the grill back home.

The location and my experience was quite favorable, I found room service and my room to be very clean and well maintained throughout my entire three night stay. The people on the front desk were very cordial, friendly and more than helpful on several occasions. The hotel is located several blocks from Chinatown and equidistant from the St. Laurent and Berri UQUAM Metro stations. Secure underground parking is located next door at the Candlewood Suites and at $ 20/CD per 24 hrs. it is by no means a budget buster. I would definitely stay there again, given the right deal of course.
