CEGEP de Rosemont has the only government certified acupuncture training clinic in Quebec. As a result trainees here offer acupuncture to members of the public as a way to add to their practicum, which forms a crucial part of their studies. The clinic here is very well-run and appointments have to be made well in advance. This is not a drop-in clinic. Each session costs $ 20 a pop, in contrast to the $ 50-$ 80 you might have to pay for a practicing and certified acupuncturist. Students here are strictly monitored by their professors and teachers, all of whom are board certified. I’ve been coming here for a few years and you initial visit will involve you filling out a detailed questionnaire about your medical background and what ailment you are seeking the acupuncture for exactly. After that, you will discuss the questionnaire and your concerns with the trainee. All of them are very friendly but this is a French language CEGEP so if you’re uni-lingual English, you might want to ask beforehand for someone bilingual so there is no risk of misunderstanding one another. Depending on what you are being treated for, your treatment may involve weekly visits ranging from 2 – 8 weeks. The treatment and the service I have received to date were nothing less than professional and friendly. And I didn’t have to rob a bank to get it either!
