I tried a caramel truffle at store it was ok so I bought a box of 9 different flavours to try, turned our I don’t like their truffles that much… But they have Pralus, SIRENE etc. in the store. The staff was lovely, welcoming and helpful. Grabbed a hot chocolate and brownie too, they were pretty good, especially the hot chocolate

Upscale small boutique chocolate shop located in the Plateau. Selection is varied here but the chocolates are small yet rich in flavour. I strolled by here after picking up my regular capucino from Olimpico. It’s a block away W from Olimpico on the S side of St Viateur. For the person who loves chocolate I find a nice box of high quality chocolate is a great gift for Christmas. Expensive chocolate is not something that you indulge in frequently but as a gift I find people appreciate receiving it. So I picked up a few stocking stuffers and a box of chocolates for a co-worker. For a small box of 9 it’s $ 20. The woman working the counter had samples and my eye brows lifted a bit after I popped one in the mouth! Devishly good! If you are a choco– lover and are looking for a more original Montréal option similar to Godiva pricing this is your place. Excellent quality.

We were sent to Genevieve by the concierge at the St. Sulplice Hotel, who told us it was his favorite chocolatier in Montréal. I couldn’t agree more. Every bite is pure bliss. We also went to Suite 88, which is always nice, but Genevieve’s chocolates really beat them hands down. The chocolates are pricey, unfortunately, so we didn’t buy as many as we should have. Now… regrets… if only we had bought more…

This place was mentioned as one of the best chocolate stores in all of Montréal, I was mildly underwhelmed with the fad, especially since each of the chocolate bites cost almost $ 3 a piece. Of course, the flavor profile was very complex and we were told to savor each bite without significant chewing and letting the flavors bathe our tongue. For a simple minded man such as myself, I could never eat chocolate at this pace, nor could I afford it. That being said, this place got 4 stars because I know of the rigorous methods required to achieve their creation and that good chocolates, in the mouths of experts, is priceless. Also, the staff was very friendly, happy, and gave us free icecream samples, which is always a plus.

During my recent trip to Montréal, I was on the lookout for a unique place to buy gifts for people cause one of the things I always do on trips is bring home stuff for others. I’m not big on souvenirs unless they’re useful ones; Most of the time I gravitate towards foodstuffs. Chocolats Genevieve Grandbois definitely fit the bill: beautiful and deliciously rich chocolates, only available in Canada(there are 28 location and all located in Canada). I didn’t get to try any of their display chocolates or the hot chocolate but I’ve heard great things about them and bought a ton for friends and family. I may very well open one of the smaller 2-chocolate boxes and try these though. When we were there, the shop owner did provide us samples of their chocolate bars though and those were absolutely scrumptious! Rich, high quality, intense flavor. Made from real cacao and high concentrations of it, these chocolates taste like chocolate should taste. The display chocolates, which come in boxes of 2 or 9, come in 9 different flavors, including the classics: — Gianduja An Italian speciality. Caramelized hazelnut butter and chocolate. — Maple Maple butter with maple syrup added, combined with pecans caramelized in maple sugar. — Caramel An amber caramel flavoured with vanilla and enhanced with fleur de sel. — Extra-vierge A ganache made with 70% cocoa chocolate delicately blended with extra-virgin olive oil. I don’t remember the other 5 flavors when we went but I think they’re seasonal. Each 2-chocolate box comes with one maple chocolate and one other chocolate. Food: 4⁄5 — rich, real cacao, high quality ingredients Service: 4⁄5 — fantastic! The shop owner in Montréal spoke fluent French(obviously) and ok English but asked if we spoke French and after I said«a little bit,» she charmingly started talking to me in French. Although my French isn’t good enough for me to respond quickly, I did understand her and it was great :) Atmosphere: 4⁄5 — a small, cozy shop; clean, welcoming, chocolates are beautifully displayed Overall: 4⁄5 — Beautifully packaged, high quality chocolates that can only be found in Canada; Need I say more?

Ah snobisme! Quand tu nous tiens…

This place is great if you are a real foodie and enjoy trying new things and awesome combinations. Le 9 is a definite try and they have a cigar one it was odd but still tasted good. The shop is small but the female that helped us was very friendly. I will definitely come back next time in Montréal.

This place offers unique chocolates. Some of my favorite ones were the Piment and Safran. Good place to drop by when in town.

I was first introduced to these chocolates by a friend that grew up in Montréal. Since then every time I visit Montréal I must get my fix. Geneviève clearly focuses on quality ingredients and creates incredibly satisfying bites. Did you ever notice that if something has amazing taste you just need a small bite and are entirely satisfied? Her chocolates qualify, as a single square satisfies my palate perfectly each time!(Granted, I end up needing more satisfaction after the next meal of course!) My two favourites are the Gianduja(filled with caramelized hazelnut butter) and the Caramel à la fleur de sel(Vanilla caramel with just a hint of fleur de sel to highlight the flavours). She offers some other delicious flavours as well including Balsamico(which is a balsamic vinegar flavoured ganache), Truffe blanche(white truffle oil ganache), Chai(infused with indian tea, ginger, pepper, star anise and cardamom), Piment(3 types of chili peppers infused), and Érable(Maple butter and maple syrup added with caramelized maple pecans). There are several other flavours as well, and it is worth sampling your way through all of her creations(albeit one square at a time — you won’t need more in a single session). Perfection!

If you like to please yourself and are a chocolate maniac, you gotta go there. Let the flavors convince you: — Pepper — Rose — Mapple — Balsamic vinegar — Fleur de sel — Chai — etc. They also have the greatest hot chocolate of the universe. Not some sort of hot foamy milk cut with water and cheap cacao powder. No, CHOCOLATE!!! Thick and creamy and full of body. So, the idea is to go to Fairmount Bagel, go to Chocolat Geneviève Grandbois, dip your bagel IN the chocolate, and finish it with a latte at Olympico. Mmmm. Lucky you.
