CLOSED — a fro-yo shop is slated to open soon(Jul ’16) at this address. Many storefronts and cafes in the Plateau show evidence of being recently closed, with many new ones springing up in their wake.

I like this boutique because they offer a very wide variety of clothes and accessories that were made in Canada — actually, mostly from Québec designers. It is great if you are willing to pay a bit more(usually more than 100 $ per dress) to encourage local economy. Because I pay attention to the country of origin of the clothes I purchase, it is very easy to shop there because I don’t have to look at every single label to know where the item was made. There are a lot of dresses that fit different styles: funky or traditional. Their salespersons are nice and competent. They give advice without being too pushy. The one thing I was less satisfied about is that one of the dresses I bought was made out of stretch fabric, such that the shoulder straps would extend and the dress would go down too low as I wore it.(Nothing I could see at the time I tried it on.) I called to know if they could fix it(they have a workshop at the boutique), but they said that the only type of adjustments they make is to shorten dresses that are too long. That’s disappointing when you just paid a lot of money for a dress. I was ready to pay them for the work but they are just too busy to take care of that, and they do not know of anybody else in the neighborhood who can do those adjustments. Still, I am planning to go back next time I need a dress for work, a formal occasion, or a dressy night out.

Fabulous service, fun items and everything is locally made. I love supporting local shops and the staff here is patient, fun and able to help me find the most flattering items(even from the sales rack!)

I hadn’t heard anything about this clothing store, but my friend wanted to stop in here after reading about it in her Montréal travel guide. Luckily, my friend spoke French and could talk to the sales staff to find out some interesting tidbits about this shop. It was a really trendy shop with some great designs that you would be hard pressed to find on the High Street. Colours were vibrant and you would be sure to stand out wearing one of them. All designers are Québecois which is a great way to support local designers and give them a place to shine. Prices were a little high but on par for designer labels and there was a sale going on whilst we were there which made things a bit more affordable. Make sure you brush up on your French before you head in here or you might find yourself missing some great items.
