Rude service! Came to Tide and Boar with a staff party. The girl bartenders were exceptionally rude with very little personality or customer service. Asked to see a drink menu and they snottily told me «what you see is what we have». Co-workers swears on her life that when asked for a vodka and cranberry later in the evening, she watched them make the drink, and didn’t put vodka in it. When asked about it, the server asked her what SHE did for a living and asked HER if she forgot how to do her job. Our lawyer with us was flabbergasted.

I spend a night in Moncton every once and awhile and have always had some favorites around Main Street. My colleague suggested this place a few months ago — surprisingly I had never heard of it or for that matter, even noticed it before. Needless to say, this is my new go-to for food in Moncton. It won’t replace the casualness of some of my other spots but in terms of quality and pricing, this place is pretty spectacular. Their menu also seems to change seasonally — something I enjoyed last time was not on the menu this time. Some good favorites of mine are the Tide and Boar salad, which has an excellent combination of savoury and sweet. The chips and dip sharing platter is also pretty amazing. Their daily soup is usually yummy and fresh as well. Bar selection is great — they have rotating casks for draft beer and the prices are reasonable which is important to me($ 6 for a beer I’ve never heard of is excellent). Overall — I’m a huge fan of this place and it will generally trump anywhere else when it comes to deciding on where to eat in the area.

Went there for a quick supper before a show, so we knew service had to go nicely in order to make our plans work. When I decided to have an extra half dozen of oysters after deciding the first 6 were too delicious, the kitchen made an oops and sent out my main with the second serving of oysters. I didn’t deduct any stars as the rest of the service was perfect, like those oysters. Rene had the beef tenderloin, and I had the burger, both were delicious. The star was the T&B salad, which has roasted root vegetables including beets, which are my favourite and add a slight sweetness to the mix of greens. The wine and beer was good! I had two glasses of Wente Chardonnay and he had an organic beer from Ontario. With no time for dessert, this just gives us yet another reason to return. The service was good and definitely what the people call hipster.

Great ambiance, service and location! Oh did I mention, food was great too! We were 5, went for a late dinner; had some pear cider which was a nice treat — light, sweet and bubbly! I ordered the vegetarian plate, a plate filled with local organic vegetables. It was delicious! Puréed squash, green beans, roasted yellow pepper, broccoli and heirloom carrots — great for a light late night dinner. I am going to go again tomorrow to try their veggie burger — my colleagues loved it, perfect for my dinner tomorrow! Hehe

It is a place to give a try. but there are gaps before this is a 4 or 5 star rating with me. Pro: 1 — Service — I can’t remember the last time I had service this great. I don’t remember the servers name, but she was 5 stars all the way 2 — Polenta fries — this starter was featured on TV for good reason. A bit pricey for what you get, but it really is a crown jewel for them So-so: 1 — Beer selection — better than most in the area, but get your wallet out. Not their fault, but if you want to enjoy anything good, … bend over 2 — BBQ — smelled great, sounded good on paper, but didn’t measure past average. when you look at bang-for-buck. the bbq was pretty crappy. Go for a burger or some fish if you want great food at fair price. The BBQ needs some improvement Boooo: 1 — Food quality assurance — I got the full BBQ platter, and shame on a restaurant of this calibre for quality. The head chefs should be ashamed for not checking what they order. Suspect #1, corn on the cob. Part of a $ 30 bbq entrée. worthy of chicken feed. 2 — washroom attendance — while the rest of the place was tidy and well presented… step into the washroom and it’s a different story. Both the upstairs and downstairs were obviously neglected. What a mess and gross. Bottom line — an anniversary dinner for my wife and I was about $ 90 and I’ve been far better off at 60% of that.

Stumbled upon this popular gastropub which looked packed at when we first entered. Luckily, there’s actually also a basement level — not as nice looking as the main floor but it was fine for our quick dinner purposes. Ordered 3 oysters that I hadn’t heard of before, the Blue Pearls. Have to say it was the most pungent and fishy-tasting oysters I had ever had, so much so that I thought they had gone bad! The waiststaff assured me that it’s just how the oyster type tastes, and I was relieved to find I didn’t get sick the next day — whew! I guess it really is just a funky-tasting type of oyster. We followed it with a local pork charcuterie board(hey, it’s Tide and Boar, after all). Nothing in particular particularly stands out in my mind, but I do recall that it was a pretty large portion of charcuterie. Had the fried fish as a main which had a breadcrumb coating. It was alright, but I found the side salad to be more memorable than the fish. Something about those tiny red squares(beets? Rhubarb?) just lifted the salad to feel super-refreshing.

The service was great but the food was ok at best. I’m not sure if I would go back. The waitress was amazing.

Where to start? The location is fantastic, outside patio, main floor or basement or just eat at the bar. Their beer selection is really good but the real attraction is the food. We ordered a boar poutine and a boar burger and the meat was fantastic. Juicy, perfectly cooked and lots of meat. There was more meat in my poutine than fries and it wasn’t a small plate. Their homemade ketchup is really good. When my poutine was served with some ketchup on it I was a bit disappointed because ketchup usually over powers the taste but not this time! The service was really good. Our waitress could’ve paid a bit more attention to us but her section was really busy and she was always helping someone and not being invisible. This was the only thing bad I had to say about our night there and because she always had a presence in her section I didn’t dock a star because one person can only do so much. I strongly recommend the Tide and Boar. I’m sure you will enjoy your time there and feel you didn’t waste your money.

Very tasty spot in downtown Moncton. Good selection of meats(boar) and seafood(tide). Lots of beer options. We ordered the Tide board, Pork Belly bites, Boar poutine, Seafood chowder and kid’s size fish and chips. Tide board was delicious and came with 2 freshly shucked oysters, haddock pâté with crostini, smoked salmon(yummy) and steam mussels. Our 2 year old son devoured the mussels. Let’s just say he loves seafood and therefore Atlantic Canada. The seafood chowder was stacked with fish, mussels, large scallops. It was creamy but could use a little bit more salt. The pork belly bites were a hit. Baked and then fried bits coated in maple syrup. Again the kids loved it. The boar poutine was stacked with a very generous portion of pulled pork. You could barely see the fries. Very filling. Will definitely repeat.

Friendly bartenders and and excellent basement area. Wonderful space — we had a group there for drinks and a buffet of food. Was delicious. Definitely hope to return some day.

We ate in the Duo Wine Bar which shares the same kitchen, but with better wine menu and jazz music. Ambiance — lovely brick walls adorned with local modern art and great service from a knowledgeable server. A unique and excellent menu. She had the seared chicken breast which was moist, tender and tasty. I had an exquisite haddock on a platter of smoked veggies.

Were it in a bigger city it would get a good 4 as it remains a gastropub but here it likely deserves a 5! Service is nice and globally efficient, like in a gastropub. Food is really good, with generous portions and very good-priced. Several menu items are worth the experience for sure(huge good bone marrow, boar poutine that i did not try but looks ok — wish there was an appetizer or side size option).

Oh well yes! What took me so long to get in here?!? The waiter/bartender went above and beyond to make our Manhattan’s perfect. You could tell he loves his job and really wanted to make sure we were happy. The food was incredible. I’m not a huge fan of seafood but when my partner was eating his seafood chowder and was raving about it I had to have a taste. And it was amazing. Great burger. The beer we had was local, bitter and yummy. This will definitely be our place to go eat in Moncton. Superb.

Atmosphere is nice and the service so-so. The food on the other hand was not my cup of tea. I found their odd mix of flavours to not provide a satisfying experience.

This is a great place to go for all around good food. I’ve never had anything I didn’t enjoy at the Tide and Boar. They have a great sized patio that is perfect for summer days and nights. The most recent time I was there was for lunch. I ordered the new burger with a poutine as a side. The wait time was about 15 to 20 minutes but once the food came it was worth the wait. The burger was bursting with flavour and nothing short of delicious. The poutine was also good but nothing special. This is a great place to eat in the city.

It’s a fun place for drinks and entertainment with a nice ambiance/atmosphere. They have a great menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner but the food quality and service has not been consistent. I’ve had a couple great meals there with delicious food and high quality ingredients. But the last 2 times I’ve been, the meals were not fresh/cooked properly and the wait times were unreasonably long; to the extent where a few tables walked out and we felt forgotten about. I’d be willing to give it another try if I start hearing better things. They have great bar staff and a good wine selection.

On my flight up from Newark, the passengers really talked this place up so I was pleased to discover my hotel was just around the corner. Having perused the menu late at night from my hotel bed, I was pretty pumped when it was finally dinner time. The food itself was very tasty. I opted for a bone marrow appetizer, which came out much larger and marrowy than what I’m used to. It was very good, though not the best Ive had. I wound up unable to finish it, as there was far more marrow than things to spread it on(and eating marrow by itself is just a bit too much for me). For my entrée, of course it had to be the boar poutine. Tender juicy meat, cheese, salty fries and of course gravy. Deliciously filling and it definitely wound up being far more than I could hope to eat. Unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. I was barely spoken to by my server, and all attempts to chat or be friendly were brushed aside. But here’s where it went from eh to downright weird. I ordered a cider, they were out, and he immediately offered a homemade cider. What I was given was. well I still don’t know. It was charged on my tab as a Rolling Rock. It tasted like a light beer(presumably Rolling Rock) with apple flavored something. On ice. Wut. Service and weird drinks aside, this is a tasty gastropub perfect for a nice dinner. Just be wary of the bartender I guess. Oh, and they want $ 30 for a Goose Island. As a gal from Chicago, I simply cannot wrap my head around this.

Came here after hearing from a friend that it’s a good pick. The feel of the place is hipster urban smooth in a darkly lit setting. Was with a work friend, feeling the nice urban gastropub feel on the inside. Wasn’t feeling like beer on this night but saw that they have a serious beer list. Even one of my fave’s Brooklyn lager! I will have to check it out another night however! For dinner ordered the 2 pieces of parmesan crusted Haddock with the polenta fries. Both were nice light, crispy and very decadent! The Polenta fries came with a very interesting reggiano basil salsa verde! The haddock had an awesome light but perfect flavour. This may be one of the coolest places to come for a bite or hang out for after work drinks in Moncton! A way nicer feel than the pump house! Food and drink could rival any gastropub in Toronto, New York or Chicago! Well done!

Came here just to check out the boar poutine and it didn’t disappoint. There’s an entrée-sized serving of meat in and of itself, and when mixed in with the gravy, cheese, and fries, provides a slightly modern take on Canadian comfort food. Service was cheery and helpful, and the space appears big enough to host live music on the weekends, with several elevated areas along the windows, more seating in the middle of the restaurant, and a bar area too. A good choice in downtown Moncton.
