T & T Supermarket

I made the mistake of grocery shopping there on the day before Chinese New Year. There were so many people even before noon. It was difficult to shop with lots of customers combined with staff deciding to merchandise and blocking narrow aisles with pallets of inventory. Why now of all days?
Counters were fully staffed but they seem to be ignoring the dozen of customers waiving their tickets in the air and kept their backs turned towards the wall. I also got deliberately shoved by staff twice who wanted to bypass me in the aisles as if I was a crate. Seriously?
Checkout was slow and customers were fighting and shoving each other. It didn’t feel like they’re celebrating a special occasion. Staff was miserable maybe because it was busy?
Overall, it was not a good visit but it’s not often this happens here. I’ll have to remember not to shop here during special occasions. Too bad really. It would have been nice to have a more festive feel like you’ve travelled abroad to join festivities as a customer.
If it wasn’t for their awesome product selection, I would seriously give them a one star and never return.

I’m just going to compare this to the T&T in my beautiful province British Columbia. (Love you Vancouver!)
T & T Supermarket is kind of far from where I live but that’s okay because I depend on this store for all of my Asian beauty products + snacks. I know Chinatown has a lot as well, but T & T just feels more dependable. When you enter, the store is pretty big and arranged neatly, like all other T & T locations. They have a smaller range of beauty products (sheet masks, Korean cosmetics, fancy-​looking skin care cosmetics) which was rather disappointing. T & T does have an abundance of produce and snacks– kind of pricey but still a solid source to get your candy from! I love collecting Pocky and their drinks imported from East Asia.
Their cooked food selection has enough to stuff you for all three meals, and it’s a good alternative to actually cooking. T & T baked goods are pretty decent but they’re more for aesthetics, so if you’re a gourmet or a dessert snob you really shouldn’t buy that adorable Totoro cake for yourself.

I’m not Asian, but this is my goto place for many items. Hot pot ingredients, frozen dumplings and their fresh produce. I did buy fresh mussels, the worst ever, one third were dead. Loblaws has better mussels. I also went to the butcher counter for flank steak, after marinading it how I’ve done for years and BBQ it, I thru it out. The worst meat ever. Costco will be my meat destination. And yes, avoid weekends and be careful in the parking lot. I drive paranoid every time I’m there.

This Chinese supermarket is a cheap place to get meat and unique condiments. Although, they are not the cheapest, shopping with T&T is always fun.
They have ranges of sushi, dim sum, fresh fish, bread and butcher shop. Lots of choices!
The only downfall is they don’t price match or their workers don’t always understand English. But I’m sure one can manage to spend a little more and go on a scavenger hunt.
The lineups are long but their cashiers are super fast. And grocery bags are free. Bonus!

Was once better then it is now better deals on meats and fruits .
They do have high standers top notch on there meats and fruits.
They are the cleanest Asian super market .
They also have a hot table, at one time it was great but they have changed it to a open table allowing the public to touch and reach over the food. Bad idea .
Great to go on the weekend to try some of the samples, also to get cooking tips.
