Got to see first hand the wonder that is Italfest this past weekend — be still my Italian heart, for it was a great time all around. Due to the fact that it’s set inside Celebration Square the festival is free to attend but make sure you still bring you money with you because there is an endless number of food and drink to buy once you arrive. Anything you could possibly want, pasta, pizza, veal Sangwich(it’s Italian folks, so it’s spelt with a ‘g’ not a ‘d’, ask any good Italian) and gelato. Definitely a food coma if there ever was one to be head in the middle of the hot Mississauga sun! Aside from the food, there was a ton of things to do and see. You could participate in a lifesize version of fooseball, the bocce tournament, watch life performances by talented italian crooners and singers, and more. I got to experience the VIP tented area which provided a free Italian buffet and allowed you a shaded spot to sit with easy access to a cash bar, I could only spend a few minutes here but I tried a cheese manicotti and it was top shelf! I got to see the festival in the mid afternoon but as I’m told it really heats up in the evening so I will have to try showing up later next year.
