Derry Village IDA Pharmacy and Medical Centre

Staff who doesn’t know much English and cannot speak English right. No idea what some of their nurses are saying? I think it’s mostly Indians who work there… they got my health card number wrong and I have to wait another 2 weeks to get my blood results… doctors are always in a hurry to get to other patients to earn more money. They care about money more than a patient personal health. I do not recommend this clinic.

This is a pharmacy where people really care. It’s no Shoppers Drug Mart, where you will most certainly be treated like a number and pay higher than necessary dispensing fees (not to mention the crazy markups on everything else you might decide to buy while you’re in there waiting forever for your prescription!)
I also love that the service is always super speedy. Having previously worked in a pharmacy for four years, I know that there is much more to filling a prescription than just «slapping a label on it». That said, the pharmacists take the time to properly review your prescription for accuracy and speak to you in a very timely manner. I think the longest I have ever waited is 10 minutes. I’m not sure if this is their average, but I certainly know that you can experience wait times of 45 minutes to an hour at other pharmacies. When you’re really feeling crappy and you just want to get home, this is a big deal. As an added bonus, they are located right next to Food Basics. I generally will pop into the grocery store and pick up anything I need in the time that it takes the pharmacist to fill my prescription.
On top of all of this, I have gotten to know the owner and primary pharmacist fairly well. His name is Angelo. He’s very friendly and will make you feel very comfortable. It’s really nice to see a real small business owner who’s trying to make it out there amongst all of the big box stores. Angelo mentioned something to me today about them offering a delivery service twice a day. I don’t know much about this, but if there’s something you need and you can’t get out of the house, this might be worth looking into.
Keep up the great work, Angelo! I don’t care how far I have to drive to come and see you, I make up for that time with your fast service. Thank you!
