We drive by every day and it’s always packed, although it’s a small place. Went for breakfast. Everything on tHe menu had some strange pairing of ingredients. It was hard to find something familiar. I had the spinach Bennie and potatoes, my wife had the crab Bennie. Hers was very rich and a bit too fishy tasting for her liking. I asked for my egg whites to be cooked not runny and my yokes to be runny. I got rather hard throughout. For such an accomplished shelf, this should have been easy. We both noticed that the potatoes were a tad on the burnt side and covered in oil. Not just glistening, as they like to say in the kitchen, but swimming in it. Potatoes were not hot so I assume they just cook em and keep em warm until there needed for plating. My only other peeve, was when I asked for HP, or any steak sauce, and they didn’t have any. They just gave me a «house made» hot sauce which tasted like Louisiana hot sauce full of of sugar. I love hot sauce but not sweet sugary sauces.(Chef, ya gotta keep condiment staples people usually ask for on hand to make them happy, not just what you want them to use because you made it) Lastly. Get rid of the plywood bench sets with strait backing and put proper chairs in with soft seats.

Pretty good spot. What they make, they make well. My only criticism of the place is its a strange menu. It really doesn’t have any sense to it, and I don’t find it very comprehensive, despite having a large number of items. The place is nice, and I would return, but I don’t think I’d ever crave returning. Another point would be that, if you’re going to have children’s toys, keep them clean. If you cannot commit to that, get rid of them all, they are nasty.

Top 3 breakfast I’ve ever had. For reals. I don’t mean«very good», I mean this was some drop the mic breakfast. The breakfast sandwich was perfectly cooked and balanced with cheese eggs bacon and tomato. Fantastic coffee and bakery too.

Such a great experience! Came here with my meat eating family and they were satisfied! I’m a vegan and ordered the veggie burger with veg pesto instead of aioli and it was incredibly delicious! Will forsure go back and have to take a treat home; I regret not taking the vegan smores

Came here with some family for a breakfast brunch on a bright sunny morning. It has a really comfy vibe that is perfect for families. We were seated at the large wooden table in the middle since all the other tables were occupied. They have a play area for the children in one corner as well. Neat that they have a play area but it’s kind of a small restaurant for it. The waitresses looked annoyed when the children were walking back and forth from the table to the play area. As usual it is probably best to visit when it is less busy if you have little ones. They have a fairly extensive and detailed menu. It was hard to take it all in so we took awhile to decide. We all ended up going with bacon and eggs(not very original considering all their crazy options) and scrambled eggs with toast for the kids. Was called ‘cheesy’ eggs and toast but I got no cheese for my little one. You’d think a place that labels itself as vegan would offer some vegan cheeses as alternatives but alas. The food was ok. The bacon was overdone. The eggs were cooked close to perfect.(People have a really hard time doing over medium it seems. they always give me over easy.) The gluten free toast was cardboard. There are some really really good gluten free breads out there. I know they want to support local businesses but if the business doesn’t make good bread you should really find somewhere else.(There’s a really good one in Poco that does excellent bread!) And lastly, the breakfast potatoes… that one stumped us. They were like underdone roast potatoes. They weren’t cooked all the way through and they were in big chunks. Really weird for a breakfast potato. If you want to make potatoes fresh as a hash-brown type side you definitely need to cut them into smaller pieces in order for them to be properly cooked. I moved my potatoes to my husbands plate. Thankfully the one berry jam was really delicious. I was able to choke down some of their gluten free cardboard bread. The kids meals were really cute. Sadly the dry cardboard toast my daughters meal came with went untouched. She did eat all the eggs and some of the fruit. She didn’t touch the cookie and so my husband and I tried it later. It was probably the worst gluten free cookie ever. Sorry but have to be honest. it really gives gluten free a bad name to serve that kind of stuff. There are gluten free cookies out there that people mistake for the real thing. I’m thinking it might be better to try some of their other meals like lunch or dinner. The breakfast was just ok. The staff was friendly and it was a nice clean place. Good to see that they are trying to work in gluten free and vegan options. Even though it was only ok, I would probably go again since they did have a very extensive menu. I would like to try what else they have to offer.

Easy street parking and a lot in the back. Friendly and courteous staff. Everything we ordered was tasty and big portioned. Egg Benny’s are the greatness. Bison burgers are good but a bit gamey for my pallet. You won’t be able to make food this good at home.

Big feast always has been and will be my favorite restaurant in Maple Ridge! Sometimes the service does take quite a while however the quality of food and the manner of the employees makes up for it. So many vegan and vegetarian options to choose from. Delicious take home options and an ever changing feature sheet. I love you Big Feast!

Went to it in the afternoon, quiet place and friendly. I ordered the Veggie burger with Yam hash on the side and it tasted great. Would recommend everyone to try it.

Went yesterday with my wife yesterday and stumbled upon their 5th anniversary«party» Burgers were on special for $ 5 which included a beer. We had one burger with caramelized onions and another with blue cheese. Both burgers were«good» but nothing out of this world and as we weren’t in the mood for a beer we asked for a mango and OJ which were sort of cold but came without ice. Don’t think they were freshly squeezed either. When I looked at the regular price of a burger at around $ 16, my immediate reaction was«no way will I be headed there anytime soon» The $ 5 was pushing it…$ 16 is more of a LOL!!! Could make this meal for $ 4 yourself. Why, after taxes and tip would you drop $ 20pp? Nice friendly atmosphere and staff tho!

Delicious, fresh, organic… the list goes on. Over the past year i have been to this restaurant many times. I now have ordered all of the main courses off of their regular menu, not a single one has been short of amazing. The one consistency that sets this place apart from the other local options, is the creative element. The portions are not small and i always leave feeling satisfied but not stuffed. Tracy, the manager always comes out and says hello. She knows us by name and is simply a delight. The whole dinning experience is phenominal.

Great eclectic little hole-in-the-wall. Based on other Unilocal reviews we decided to give this place a shot and didn’t regret it. Although we turned up with a party of 7 at the dinner hour on a Saturday they were able to accommodate us despite another large party already there and an incoming reservation. The décor is ‘entertaining’ with mismatched tables and chairs, art by local tattooists on the wall(for sale) and a corner set aside with a kiddie kitchen and other toys to entertain the little ones. Our meals did not disappoint, with generous portions and decent presentation. Our servers were pleasant as well with just the right amount of attentiveness — we weren’t hovered over but didn’t feel neglected either. The hit of the table for the night was the Lobster Mac & Cheese. I had the 5AM which was good — although I wished that I’d tried one of the other dishes. Would have been perfect for brunch — which makes sense as it was in the Lunch menu that I had accidentally been given. All in all a great dinner experience — we’ll go again! If you’re looking for the 5 Star dining experience or food you can find anywhere, this isn’t it — but if you’re looking for tasty food and decent service outside of the chain restaurant formula, Big Feast is for you!

Delicious spinach Benny. Seated right away. Served hot meals within 10mins of sitting down. Pleasant surprise that they are open later now! Always thought they were open until 3 everyday. Love it! If you haven’t tried these guys out they are the real deal. Just read the reviews. Pricey though. Average breaky is about 13 bucks. It’s worth it though.

After seeing this place on You Gotta Eat Here and hearing great reviews from friends, we went out to try brunch. Everything was what we expected and hoped for. A cozy artsy vibe with mismatched chairs, hip friendly servers, a little nook to keep the kids occupied… and big creative dishes packed full of flavour. Check your calorie and cholesterol counters at the door and order the Crab Benny. Ho man. Sourdough toast loaded with avocado and oodles of crab meat. The hollandaise is quality, and the additional drizzle of chipotle and smattering of capers knock the dish out of the park. My lady had the«5am», a bison burger with back bacon and fried egg. I wrestled a bite away from her but she fought back hard. The kids had pancakes that looked like crepes — thin and fluffy with crispy edges. Lots of nice fruit on the side. It’s a tad pricier than your typical diner breakfast spot, but there’s a reason. Big Feast is definite deliciousness.

This was my third time here. My first two visits were much better. I ordered the same dish each time. where’s my tofu? But this time It should have been renamed where’s my flavor and hold the oil. My dish lacked any flavor and my potatoes were swimming in oil. Oil was pooling on my plate. The servers were stressed out due to a tour coming in, I know this only because our server was complaining to us about the tour, her having to work over time and it was rather unprofessional. Unfortunately we won’t be revisiting after this experience.

I think I’ve found my favorite restaurant in Maple Ridge! I like that their selections use local ingredients, and that they have gluten-free versions of basically everything on their entire menu. I ordered their pancakes(GF), scrambled eggs, and coffee. The pancakes were impressive and very filling, although I was not a fan of the blueberry compote on top — which they gladly exchange for a fresh batch of pancakes w/o compote. Friendly service, parking close by, indoor-outdoor dining. The dining area was clean, and you can see the kitchen from the dining room. I ordered coffee(which was okay, but nothing to write home about) — free refills though! They offer a full selection of espresso drinks which I look forward to trying next time. Free wi-fi. Mid-range prices. My meal costed $ 20, which is a little pricey for pancakes, eggs, and coffee, but I didn’t mind because of the quality of the ingredients. Big Feast functions well as both a drop-in coffee shop, as well as a casual sit-down restaurant, with dedicated menus to each purpose. I look forward to returning and sampling more of the menu!

I’ve heard amazing things about Big Feast and their Bennies. Determined to locate more Benny Awesomeness — I drove out to Maple Ridge to delve into some Sunday goodness. The place was PACKED. Always a good sign, great atmosphere, nice looking place. Servers were on top of things and very personable. I loved the décor, and energy right away. I was told by an acquaintance to order the Crab Benny, so I did. And while I wasn’t entirely happy with my meal, I wasn’t fully dissapointed either. I experiment with food all the time — combining different ingredients, to see what can happen, many times; it ends in disaster, some times I create kitchen glory, but as I’ve learned often enough, not every dish can be a blank canvas. Sticking to traditional ingredients and not going too far off book may be the right path to travel. The benny came out, and was stunning looking. Great presentation, not too much Hollandaise sauce as in my previous benny in Mission — all in all, it was visually appealing. But with my knack for taste and flavour, I never stop at a books cover, I always prefer to play amongst the pages, because that’s where the real story lies. Nice light homemade Hollandaise sauce, perfectly cooked eggs(I like mine medium), fresh avocado, delicious crab, and a piece of sourdough bread, that I originally thought was french toast because of it’s battered flavour — A chipotle crema, and topped with capers — doesn’t it sound devine? Yes, in theory. However on my plate, it didn’t work. I like when I can taste individual ingredients in the food I eat… that I can recognize the different flavours — in this benny, all I could taste was the bread. It was wonderful, but I didnt feel it it matched with the meal. The light sauce overpowered by the chipotle crème and everything else taken over by the«corn flake crusted sourdough» I never even tasted my egg, or the avocado unless I ate it separately, and I often forgot that there was crab in the dish(and they serve a nice portion in the meal), because of the bottom portion. Each component of the meal was high quality, and well made but the sourdough should have been left alone in combination with the other flavours. All in all, I’m happy that I went, and I’ll definitely go again, however I wont try the Crab Benny again, not until the bread, and chipotle crema are 86’d from the dish. I see the«corn flake crusted sourdough» matched with Brie in a grill cheese, not on my bennies, but perhaps I’m too stuck in my Benedict ways… Eggs Benedict have some room to «make it your own» but not a lot. There are times when taking this dish that extra mile, can cost you; and it’s my personal belief that the Crab Benny would be more of a hit without all the artistic flair.

Had been meaning to try this place out with my girlfriend forever. We had both read the Unilocal reviews and curiously perused the menu online, and liked what we saw. I wondered how the wild fennel Bison burger would taste… online it included real crab and smoked bacon, and banana pepper compote… crab on a burger? Why? Needless to say it was fantastic! The taste of crab got a little lost but it did add something to the texture and kept the burger moist and juicy. The tuna burger my friend had looked fantastic too, and judging by our silent noshing, we were all having a good time. The sides you can choose from looked wonderful as well, The asian slaw had juicy slices of house pickled daikon and ginger, and the napa salad my gf had with goat cheese and pecans were amazing. I really wanted to try the icecream sundae, or the butterscotch pot de crème, but we decided to do dessert elsewhere. The only downside is that its a bit pricy, but very much worth it considering the freshness and use of local ingredients. Looks like the slow influx of hipsters are slowly starting to change the face of diners and food expectations in maple ridge. I’d say yay, but I’m not wearing my blingy rad cosby sweater, nor oversized glasses.

Utilizing local and organic ingredients, this restaurant is definitely worth the drive out to Maple Ridge. Looking at their menu, one can tell that they took the time to develop items that sound delicious, even on paper. Wild fennel bison burger with goat cheese aioli?! In-house roasted honey mustard ham?! Everything looked too good, we had to take at least 15 minutes to decide what we wanted. Finally, I ordered the crab benny –with fresh avocado, chipotle crema, cornflake crusted bread, crispy capers & fresh hollandaise. This also comes with a side of roasted potatoes caramelized with onions, or citrus infused fruit salad. Needless to say, this is one of the best crab bennys I’ve ever had. The crab, the fresh avocado, the crema, and then the most interesting part was the cornflake crusted sourdough bread. It created texture, and was a perfect accompaniment to the soft poached eggs. They also have a extensive ‘take-home’ menu, offering prepared foods. I got 2 of their frozen soups to go. An artichoke, carrot and lavender infused honey one, and a chorizo and feta one. I can’t wait to try these for lunch this week! Kid friendly, with a cozy atmosphere, I’m definitely coming back very soon. Brunch next weekend anyone?
