Excellent coffee, most likely best in London. It follows the tradition of a gourmet coffee shops that started opening in San Francisco in a last couple of years. Only negative would be that coffee(latte) sometimes varies in quality(steamed milk is sometimes scorched) but I have to say they even then it beats other coffee places in London.

Right now this is my favourite coffee spot in the city! They have these coconut oatmeal cookies that are to die for! My only complaint is the parking. With that said, the location is great, but I would recommend parking on the road during peak hours to avoid frustration.

As an avid coffee drinker, I can be very particular on what kind of coffee I like, and how I like it. I’ve been to Locomotive Espresso a few times now, and every time I’ve been; the coffee’s been excellent, smooth, and delicious, and the café itself gives you a place to read, study and some visuals around the ceiling with their trains and luggages on the walls. I’m usually a black coffee drinker, but on occasion, I’ve had the latte and it’s sweet, delicious and the latte art is impeccable. The price is also reasonable, when you expect to pay at least $ 3 or more for a coffee and/or a latte at other locations. If you’re driving, the parking spaces are minimal due to the small parking lot, but there is street parking available if you’re driving. If you live downtown, it’s a quick walk down the street. A wonderful, local coffee place to enjoy the company of your friends, family and of course, coffee!

One of the only places in London to get a decent cup of coffee(or espresso). I just recently moved back to London after spending four years in Vancouver. Giving up all the amazing coffee shops in Vancouver has been one of the most difficult things about my transition back. In those four years I was gone, Locomotive opened. I am happy to see that London FINALLY has a good-quality independent coffee shop. My drink at Locomotive has always been prepared well and flavor of the coffee is good. I have drank a lot of good espresso, and although Locomotive is good, it’s not amazing. That being said, this is definitely the best coffee you are going to find in London. I will say though, the atmosphere kind of leaves something to be desired.

5 stars for the coffee! Excellent coffee! 1 star because we can never find a seat. Wish we could access it more often. The last 7 times we’ve gone there there is never a place to sit so we’ve had to go elsewhere. We’ve tried early, mid afternoon, an hour before close… no luck. We’ve now given up. Lucky are those that have found a seat. I can understand why they occupy it for hours on end.

Great spot for coffee, felt very welcome on the snowiest day of the year. Surprisingly a good amount of seating. Barista very friendly and helpful. The coffee though was ABSOLUTELY delicious, she described the two blends and they tasted exactly how she said, one of the best cups of coffee ever perhaps. The egg and spinach croissant was beautiful and tasty. Does not feel like a place that would be in london which is great, defiantly will be back!

This place gets busy on the weekend but the staff does well. The drinks are very well done and the food is actually really good considering. A little on the more expensive side but a great place to hang out and have a coffee and catch up with friends and family.

A personal favourite. Had the pleasure of visiting Paris last summer and this place would easily fit in. Quite honestly felt great to come home to Locomotive Espresso. Be sure to say Hi to those wonderful Baristas… they are Marvellous!

Neat little coffee shop. It can get pretty loud when it fills up so not the best place for a quiet get together or study time. The hot chocolate is so yummy. Also tried the iced coffee which I really enjoyed in the summer.

Always excellent well trained Baristas and it shows. They are masters of the latte! They use Pilot coffee which is one of the better artisanal coffees sold in London. Very busy! Extra thumbs up for the Toast Bar! Note: they only take cash or credit card

A really great spot for coffee and the gamut of caffeine inspired imbibes. Food can be hit or miss as it seems to be brought in but they have some of the best brews in town. Quirky vibe and can fill up quick so be prepared to share a table or get that brew to go. Also a great selection of coffee accessories and supplies.

This is my go-to coffee spot in London. The location isn’t too far from downtown, but far enough that you don’t have to worry about parking or a morning rush. There is plenty of available parking on the street, and sometimes you’ll be able to catch a spot in their parking lot if you’re planning on staying a while. Their service is excellent. Their baristas are knowledgeable on the beans /roasts they currently have available. They are quick to provide a recommendation based on your preferred flavour profile. This is a unique and welcoming experience whether you’re a new or seasoned coffee drinker. I usually order an Americano and these prices are reasonable and on-par with other cafes around town. Based on the quality of the drink, I would almost consider it a bargain. The friendly barista behind the counter is generally quick to spark up a conversation while making my drink. You can immediately sense that these folks are passionate about their trade and this is represented by the quality of their product. I have yet to walk away unsatisfied — they offer consistency and quality. Other similar coffee spots around town have not fared as well in this department. On a side note, their hot chocolates are the best I’ve had. I don’t order them myself, but this is the only drink my girlfriend will order(she isn’t a coffee drinker). It’s a must that I have a sip every time we visit because it truly is amazing.

I think if i had free reign to put a coffee shop anywhere in London, the location of locomotive would be one of my last choices. It’s far away from the downtown traffic yet equally distant from the university crowd. In addition, the parking lot is very odd. It’s filled with big yellow pillars and no parking signs so I can only hope I left my car in the right place. Until now, London has been devoid of a coffee shop that meets big city criteria. Locomotive has burst into the London scene with the following features: 1. Hipster staff– Instead of getting the classic«What can we get started for you?» line, you get just a sniff of hipster angst when placing your order. It’s not uncomfortable but reminds you that making an Americano for you is not a right but a privilege. 2. A chalkboard– Artsy writing on a blackboard is paramount and Locomotive doesn’t let you down. The price of an Americano is clearly list in calligraphy synonymous with your grade 2 teacher. 3. Random Sundries– Urban coffee shops need to display random foodstuffs for sale. In the case of Locomotive, you can buy things like Manitoulin island Banana Cream spread to compliment your caffeine fix. I ordered a reasonably priced decaf Americano which was very comparable of anything you will get in Toronto. I also ordered an artisan rhubarb tart which was a little flimsy but tasty enough. In the end, I’d sit here and do some computer work while enjoying a good coffee. Let’s get a few more of these places in London without the Lego parking in the middle of nowhere.

Fantastic, fantastic coffee. Comparable to Café Myriade in Montréal — my personal favourite. Stopped by for some breakfast and was surprised to find that this place takes coffee very seriously but is not pretentious about it all. Really enjoyed hearing about their beans and how the staff is so strictly trained externally. Great latte, good toast, definitely a spot to get some grub and get some work done.

My boyfriend is an avid coffee drinker so when he heard about a new coffee place opening up in downtown London, we had to check it out. While I’m more of a hot chocolate kind of girl I’m down for enjoying a warm treat on this extra chilly day. First off it is a plus to see that this place has parking. While limited, there were many open spots on the street. Inside has quite a few spaces to sit but it did fill up quickly. Free wifi of course. The décor was really nice with train sets and suitcase-shelves along the back wall. Their prices are very affordable. I’m used to paying at least $ 4.00 for a hot chocolate. In this case, it was only about $ 2.00. The woman behind the counter was very knowledgable about the two espressos they had available that day, giving a great description of the different notes and flavours. When my hot chocolate arrived it looked beautiful and it tasted just as good. While not as sugary as most hot chocolates, the thick creamy texture was wonderful. My boyfriend drank an Americano and enjoyed the flavour. He would come here again for the coffee. They have a few different sandwich options, soup of the day, a toast bar with different butters and jams, and lots of chocolate. They have bags of Pilot Coffee for purchase and various teas. I did notice they had for sale the Aeropress. My boyfriend uses this contraption to make the best at-home cup of coffee he’s ever tasted and this is the ONLY place he has seen it for sale offline. This place knows their coffee and all that goes with it. I will definitely be visiting again soon. If I worked downtown, I would be making my coffee runs down the tracks to Locomotive Express. Choo choo!
