We have been regular customers of Fritou and it’s time we left a review. They have the best chicken in London, in our opinion. We have had fried chicken at several places in the Deep South, where they do it best and Fritou is right with those places. Particularly if you like your fried chicken well seasoned and with good flavour balance. It is consistent and delicious each time. It is original around here and there’s nothing quite like it when you get into the southwestern and spicy versions. Not too spicy, just great. Sam the owner is a very personable guy that cares a great deal about his customers and the product he puts out. It’s very evident any time you talk to him. Thanks fritou for providing London with a foodie type fried chicken experience that is difficult to find in London. The type of experience you could only see on the food network around here and hope we had a chicken place like that. We do!

Delightfully surprised with this place. Walking in and looking at the menu at first made me a little weary. Fried chicken. Thoughts of KFCs chicken smothered in heavy batter almost made me walk out the door. That’s when the owner, Sam came out from the back and immediately engaged me. He asked for my name and addressed me by it during my whole visit waiting to bring the food home. He recommended certain options and promised me that this wasn’t average fried chicken and that I wouldn’t be disappointed. He was right. I went with the chicken Caesar salad — southwest style and a small spicy popcorn chicken. The salad was fresh and crispy and was a very big helping. The amount of chicken seemed to be a bit on the smaller side. The popcorn chicken was the highlight of the meal by far. The chicken is made from fresh, not frozen chicken breast that is cut into cubes. It was not greasy at all. It is VERY lightly battered and only acts as an accent to the juicy chicken unlike so many other restaurants popcorn chicken. Paired with honey mustard dipping sauce it was terrific. I will definitely be visiting again. Sam says that he needs more exposure with his restaurant and he deserves it. If you’re a student definitely check it out, good price and a stellar meal from a guy who cares about what he’s feeding you.

It’s more of a 3.5 stars for this place, and not because the food sucks because it is one of the most delicious fried chicken places I have eaten at. The popcorn chicken bites are stellar — if you pair it with honey mustard sauce, mmm… soooo good and addicting. Perfect bite-sized chunks of whole white meat in a light batter. Yum. The chicken itself was also nice and hot, satisfies my carnivorous side, although a tad saltier than I would have liked it(I guess the late night people would really enjoy this). I got the extra gravy on the side($ 1.09 more) and also the fries(which are literally potato wedges — so they taste more like chunks of potatoes more than French fries which was nice for a change). 1.5 stars were docked because there was only 1 girl serving that night, so it took her longer than the 15 minutes to cook for all the orders. Secondly, she forgot part of my order, until I asked where my fries were, she gave a blank look, and then proceeded to run to the back to fry up the rest of the food. It wasn’t even that crazy of a night. Anyways, food-wise this franchise is pretty good although I’m a bigger fan of their popcorn chicken than their actual chicken(Mary Brown’s still ranks pretty high on my list). However wayyyy better than KFC or other places that don’t use real whole chicken.

I have been going to Fritou on and off since it opened and it is the best fried chicken I have ever had. It puts KFC to shame! I have only had the fried chicken because it was the first thing I got, and I keep getting it every time. I recommend getting the Fritou lunch combo. The chicken is always incredibly moist and flavorful. I don’t know where they buy their chicken, but I’d like to get my chicken there too. The staff have always been very nice. Be aware that they make every order fresh so it may take 10 – 15 minutes for your order to be ready, but it is well worth the wait because the difference is unbelievable. As someone who spent much of high school working in fast food, you can really tell the difference between fresh food and the stuff that has been sitting under a heat lamp for 2 hours and then quickly refried like at Wendy’s, the nearest late night food spot. If you want your meal ready in 30 seconds, this perhaps isn’t the place for you, but if you want top level food, both during the day and late at night, you owe it to yourself to go to fritou.
