An absolute institution! I’ve been looking around here since the 90s and the place is pretty much the same, in the best of ways. pro tip: ask to go upstairs to check out the extensive music and entertainment books. Prices are always very reasonable!

This place is a classic well-​stocked used bookstore. Narrow corridors of books seem to cover virtually any subject. There is definitely a share of adult material/​adult books as you walk in, but that by no means is the bulk of the store. You can find pretty much anything here.

Tucked away in a not-​so-​great area of downtown, this place is like heaven for the used book collector and bargain book hunter alike. What I like most about this little gem is the ambiance.
It has the feeling of a small, old-​fashioned library. The aisles are cramped and stacked to the ceiling. If you have ever been to a vintage clothing store, you know that you have really look to find something good. The same goes for City Lights. You can easily spend 3 hours in this place finding what you’re looking for and buying things you’re not.
The books range from «falling apart» to «brand new» and are priced accordingly. These folks have been here for ages so there’s hardly any mark-​up to cover high rent prices.
Back in the day, I found some hard to find CDs here… but that was before you could purchase and download anything under the sun.
