Byron NEEDS the Freehouse. I’ve lived in the area most of my life and when you don’t feel like driving all the way downtown, this is a great option. Great summer patio too. I liked their menu/drink selection. It met my standards and then some. Check it out.

I had one of the best hamburgers in my entire life in the month of January 2016 at this fine establishment. I have had many hamburgers in my lifetime and I will Not Forget this one. Clean dining, attentive staff, great atmosphere. The prices were just slightly above what I felt was fare. However the quality of the food compensated and put things in perspective.

Stopped in for a burger and a pint at lunch without really knowing what to expect. Great selection of pints and a surprisingly diverse lunch menu. The interior was appealing and the service was more than decent and not obtrusive. Food was above expectations(fries average but still decent) and the burgers were very good. I would make an effort to return for dinner and the much hyped brunch. Good outside space for nicer weather and again we found interior space bright and inviting. Four stars as it bettered my expectations.

Great place, homemade everything! Nice service, great atmosphere/ambience etc Currently they have a selection of specials on hamburgers but with with twist. each hamburger is following a member of our Canadian political party leaders. Harper, Tredeu, Montclair, May. Currently at time of writing harper burger is winning . Rest of the menu is typical pub food but appeared to be all in house made. Huge selection of free beers from local micro breweries in Canada and a selection of wine. Pros — location, beers, clients Cons — Staff on cell phones texting, no hair nets on Chefs in the kitchen, no gloves or proper hand washing from 1 plated dinner to the next.

We went to Byron Freehouse one day for lunch to show a coworker from out East something fresh from London. I have driven by this place a lot but living downtown, it’s rare that I get a chance to eat at a sit-down restaurant in Byron. Right away I was pleased by the parking in the back of the building. I was expecting to have to scrounge for street parking but this wasnt the case. The restaurant itself has a great retro-chic feel to it. I noticed a lot of people chilling out, having lunch, or grabbing a pint and doing some work. Upon first inspection of the menu I noticed there are a lot of Gluten-Free options! They make it super clear and the waitress knew them well too. My co-workers ordered the lemonades and said they were pretty tart. I ordered the Line Cook’s Grilled Cheese and it was very good. The carrot and kale hash was very different but gave it a lot of texture and flavour. No need for ketchup on this grilled cheese! I enjoyed my time here and I’m hoping I can check out what else it has to offer sometime soon!
