I stopped by Ferme Martineau last week to partake in some u-pick strawberry picking with the family. I left with a huge box filled with juicy red ripe strawberries that cost me all of $ 8. This doesn’t include the dozens I neatly devoured while picking these up in the field as well as those my daughter not-so-neatly gorged herself on to the rafters. They do spray their crops but only once early in the season before any berries form to keep pests away and have loud air guns that«shoot» every few minutes to keep the birds away. This farm market which is just off the main road(Dagenais), should not be passed up. They have an array of delicious baked goods and preserves in addition to fresh local produce for sale. I picked up some really fabulous tomatoes and they make the grocery store kind taste like they’ve come out of a slop bucket. You want this produce! I even bought an apple pie and it was glorious. They have raspberries available as well as corn for you to pick as well, we plan to go back for the corn. They have a trailer that drives people up and down the fields, the staff are very friendly and helpful. They are also quite tanned, lucky! :) Call them to make sure they are open before you head out as u-pick may not always be available for the fruits/vegetables you want.
