Great find on the way to the Okanagan Valley. Located in a strip mall — unassuming but amazing. It is essentially a Japanese mini market where you can get all types of Asian treats — drinks, candy, food that you could generally only get in Asia.
They also do a mean sushi. Seems like more of a local takeout business but they do have a food counter eating area at the front — perfect for a quick meal. The rolls and sashimi were fresh, well made and well priced.
Highly recommend this as an alternative to a chain if you’re looking for authentic, fresh and fast casual meal.

Awesome little store with excellent sushi and other foods plus a great selection of Japanese items like cooking ingredients, snacks, desserts, etc. Definitely my go to place when visiting Kelowna.

What a Unilocal find!
Coming from Vancouver — it is hard to find great value for sushi when we are on the road. I looked at the Unilocal review after our kids decided that they wanted sushi for lunch. Ume is nestled in a strip mall and is 20% eat in area and 80% Japanese snack-​type food retail. But wow — great staff that were super friendly. Food was authentically Japanese. They served Wild Salmon and Toro nigiri as the standard. Chicken Karage was really good — moist chicken. Very accommodating and accurate with the kids egg allergies and not having salmon avocado or chicken teriyaki rolls with mayo. Just excellent. Well worth a drop in if you are cruising through town. We would definitely go back.

Best bang-​for-​the-​buck Sushi in town. Simple and tiny, with an equally simple and tiny menu. Must be how they keep the prices down. This is «diner-​sushi.» This maybe the perfect lunch spot in all of Kelowna: the quality is at, or near the fancy places, but you can get a stuff-​me lunch (or supper, for that matter), for under $ 10. Not many places you can do that at this quality and level of healthiness.
If I had a criticism, and it would be a tiny one, is that I’d like a better drink selection. It just seems wrong to drink a coke with sushi, and the Asian drinks don’t look any healthier. Not licenced. It’s essentially a small store with a small diner attached. Seating is limited to about 8 – 10.

Such a cute little place. A tiny market for Japanese foods, and you can order food to eat there, or to go. Small, cute sitting area by the window. The food is really tasty. It’s a bit on the pricy side, but the quality is good.

These guys know what’s up. Great quality, and wonderful service. The mushroom roll is delicious. There’s always cute little hand drawn signs. Great quality rolls and well priced. The sashimi is even good quality and cheap! Eat here. Do it now.

Unexpected quality!
Walking in you are surprised by the aisles of a grocery store. However, order in service is available.
Food is delicious, and affordable. More than two could eat for under 25 $.
I gather they specialize in To-​Go, but we ate in.
